Just a few pics of how I've set up my GoPro hero 3 on the Shoei Qwest.

I've used hot glue just to give the mini-b usb a better fit and give couple extra minutes of weather proofing to take it off in heavy rain.

Yep I use the old battery bacpac, basically 100% better then the new model, the new version doesn't allow you to switch batteries and the extra large 1400mah batteries for the hero 2 last so much longer.

I also use the side mount with a small extension so I can get it level on the angled adapter.

good idea using the old battery back, might steal that idea myself :P

just a quick question, where did you manage to get such a small extension + it being both sides the same (vertically) as opposed to vertical to horizontal?

Comes with the large skeleton backdoor, large normal back door, extra usb cable, the battery bacpac and the extension.

Could you back out a little bit? I want to see how it is mounted on your helmet. I hate the weight that it adds to one side of the helmet and the amount of drag it creates even if I have it on the front of my helmet. :( I've resorted to using just my Contours on my helmet and using the GoPro3 on my bike. Not to mention I don't feel like paying an additional $20 for a mic converter thing and modifying my case and/or buying a skeleton one. Which also does not look like it holds the GoPro very securely and not to mention protect it from the environment. GoPro really are messing up with this one... Don't forget shipping and handling and the waiting for it to arrive. >.>

Mounted just using the curved adhesive mounts at the end of the visor just above the bottom line.

Your absolutely right about weight not to mention it is a hazard in itself. I hit the thing against every day objects when walking it wont be long before someone gets the hero 3 caught in a bush lol.

However the current adhesive mounts are secure, the camera is very light and for example my helmet is 1.5kg which nicely offsets the weight of the camera if your helmet is not the right size you will notice the weight more.

In exactly 5 days I will be purchasing a contour +2 for the helmet and strapping the hero 3 to my handle bars or chest mount. The image processor and sensor is just miles ahead of current action cameras and would be a waste to not use it.

I agree about the sensor. But the weight and the drag it produces is anything but comfortable at highway speeds. My helmets fit snug but it still causes my neck to become sore after a while.

I believe you mate, when I grab the contour I'll post some other ways to mount the GoPro.

I've ordered the contour +2 comparing it to the ghost was no easy task, it lacks in image quality and wide angle at 1080p but the simplicity, aesthetics and laser level won me over.
