Serious My First Trailer... Trash Or Treasure?

Hypertard

Life, the Universe and Bikes...
Hi guys and girls,

Hypertard here, I really wanted to share my first ever Trailer and hopefully am not breaking rules (you have too many for me to keep up with on this fine morning) but if you do need to take it down, no hard feelings; just let me know why so i can rectify and post for next time... if im not banned that is :)

Honest opinions welcome, cash bribes available.

Looks alright, could use some more "energy" if that makes sense. A trailer should be striking.

Also, as long as you don't become a problem it takes some effort to get banned.

Hi,

Thank you for the comments, sadly, I am a slow bar-steward so this is in keeping with what I have to offer. If you want something striking, try lighting a match (nomination for dad joke of the year). However, taken into consideration and who knows, watch out for the next Trailer...

It's a good effort, but it gets a bit tedious as it goes on. You've got some good jokes, and you've highlighted that in the trailer. But, the jokes get repeated, we can tell it's all pulled form just a few videos, and it feels very familiar after a minute or so.

I'd say to make it better, try recutting it and aim for 1/2 of the current run time. First, see which jokes you like best. If you don't laugh out loud, cut it. If the shot feels boring, cut it.

An idea ... you use the "bellend" line a lot, and that's fine. But you could really tighten it up ... like use the Jag clip to "everyone's a bellend today" and then smash cut the other 4 or 5 "bellends" right after that. That'll save you 30 sec or so alone and give some variety to the edit.

I will say though that your audio quality is great and you've got a great voice and sense of humor. The trick will be to lean on that in the right way and remove the boring bits.

Hi SalvageSV,

Thank you so much for taking the time to write your comments, you are absolutely correct, all the bell-end footage was from one ride; the phrase seem to have gotten stuck in my head. I shall certainly try to recut the trailer as per your advice and see what i come out with. It took me 4 hours to whittle down 15 minutes and by the end of it my eyes and ears were bleeding. I now have a lot more respect for vloggers; thats for sure!

Once again thank you.

:D

I've said it many times, but the basic deal with video is that "it can always be shorter." Especially for a trailer, this is very true. Grab them quick, keep it interesting and short (like 90 sec), and include a call to action to get them to subscribe. That's the basic formula.

OK. the good news is that I have a revised trailer, the bad news is that i would like you to compare it to the original. Should be up iin the next hour :)

And as promised, here is the finished short trailer, its 1m31s long; if you ask me to shorten it any more I may just consider quitting and going back to being a nun...

Enjoy!

Not bad. I have yet to make a trailer for my channel, but I am trying to get ideas from everywhere. When i think of a trailer, im thinking something short and straight to the point, but that will have people wanting more...

As i was advised, keep it to about 1 minute in length and keep it simple.

Good luck!
