My first fail with the Drift X

So, went on an hourish ride. Wanted to try out the new mic placement. Thought I hit record as I left, but I can't see the LCD while it's on my head... Talked to myself for 40 minutes apparently. Then, to add insult to injury, I stopped the Vlog to do some pics. It actually STARTED recording. Then I hit it again when I left, and it stopped... So I got 0 usable footage. I wish the LED on the front would turn red or something to indicate I'm actually recording. I can see that in the mirror.

I'm sorry to hear that - I'm dealing with a similar issue with my Hero 9 lately ... it likes to record 1.5-3m and then stop, but it doesn't beep, it continues to blink the red light, yet when I get done with my ride, I got nothing. Frustrating as all get-out!!!

Yep.

Manual Firmware Upgrade? Check.
Swap SD cards? Check.
Format SD cards on-camera? Check.

Contact GoPro and tell them? Check.
RMA? Also, check, as of this morning. Will be shipping the 9 back for replacement today.

I'd say it sucks, but honestly, #FirstWorldProblems, and I have a Hero 8 and a Max to use in the mean time. So it's just a bit of whinging while I wait. I'm already planning to strap on mount affix the cameras to my bike - there's no way to say it without a double entendre, if you know what I mean - and ride to the UPS store to ship it out. I even [finally] got footage on my camera of what the 9 is doing when it fouls up, since it happened WHILE I WAS CHATTING WITH GOPRO this morning! So you KNOW that footage will be overlayed in my rant video.

Side note: I am SO FAR behind on my editing... 12 projects in the editor ... I gotta take like 6 no-dozes and stay up for 3 days straight editing just to catch up!

So, update.... I did a firmware upgrade on my Ghost. And now when I hit record the light on the FRONT goes red. Apparently it was always supposed to do so, but the last firmware revision didn't do it?
