My Buddy Wrecked Last Night (pix)

Clint Love

It doesn't say CUNT, dammit!
Long story short, my buddy was exiting off the highway. The car in front of him suddenly decided they didn't want to exit and STOPPED ON THE RAMP so they could try and cross over the dividers and get back on the highway. He managed to get around them, but he hit some gravel and the bike got out from under him and he went sliding down the ramp.

His armored jacket took most of the damage and he got some road rash on his leg and a puncture in his arm where I guess some trash from the road punched through his jacket. He sent me these pix of his bike and one of his jacket.

Always painful to see :(
Glad he's OK tho.

Yeah his bike is mangled but he has full insurance so it will be fixed. He'll probably learn to watch out a bit more, too. He's a relatively new rider so I'm sure it's a reality check, too. What we do is a dangerous business.

Oh man. Its like those disgusting pictures. Your heart can't stand to look at it, but you have to look anyways.

It's good that his first (and hopefully last) crash was a minor one. He will learn a lot from the experience that will help him avoid the same thing happening again.

That's what I'm hoping for. He knows it could have gone a lot worse for him.

It always makes me laugh when I see a movie with 'bad guys' on motorbikes chasing the hero in a car. All he has to do is brake suddenly or swerve into them and presto, no bad guys anymore :D

No kidding. It's like *bump* then haha sucker!

Lack of stopping distance then maybe?

Ok you don't except them to just stop but always except it I guess

Everyone's and idiot on the roads

Yes and no. You need the skill and practice to pull off an emergency stop, however if you're planning ahead, keeping your distance and looking at avoidance routes down each side of the car in front then it's there in your mind and ready to use. It's a whole case of what-ifs. Anyone could do anything at any time, how often are there really "black swan" events. Like an aircraft wouldn't fall from the sky in front of you, yet a few years ago that's exactly what happened on the M1 in the East Midlands, a jet didn't quite make it to the runway. It happened. Not saying you need to plan for that, but people changing their mind about an exit happens often. Plan for it.
