For some reason, this thing gets on my nerves more than most things in life.

And that thing is people's logic into claiming you don't have a full driving license because you can't drive a car, only a bike. Does this get to anyone else because I get into full on arguments over this topic because the logic is just absolutely stupid, they can't even admit that with that logic the same thing but in reverse (being able to drive a car but not a bike means you don't have a full driving license either) makes sense, they claim being able to drive a car is the only thing that makes you have a full license.

It actually makes me want to punch women when they say this.

I disagree to both. One skill does not translate to the other either way. A full driving license implies you can also drive a bus, or a lorry.

A bike license is specific to one kind of vehicle, the car license to another. Neither gives you training for both. There is more to driving than just knowing how the road and traffic works.
That said, A Motorcyclist would naturally be more inclined to learn car driving than the other way. That's because of the special interest motorcycling takes.

In Norway, If you have a car license, you also get the license for mopeds. While I don't see how a car driver is prepped for riding at all, I can see how its reasonable, as moped training here barely covers actual riding skills to begin with.

Im taking about UK law.

A license full bike
B license Full car

both of these are full license but they also have extras

C Lorry
D Bus
D1 mini van

and so on.

On a test License in the UK

you get AM and A.

this allows you to drive a car and also a 50cc moped. but does not allow you to tow a trailer or a caravan

My dad has a complete license as he has been a police officer for over 35 years and took all the training he could get. he can drive and ride anything you can find on a UK road.

I understand what you mean F4celess but I'm referring to having a bike license means you have a full license, not meaning you can also drive a car. It just really annoys me the ignorance of some people who don't class a bike license as a full uk driving license, just because they drive a car

In that case, yeah that's silly. A nifty comeback would be to say "Well you don't have a full Riding license" and then leave.

Your "full licence" means nothing in this country.

And yes for the record I do have a road train licence.

What's the argument again?

You have a full driving license for riding motorcycles.

I would not bother to even talk to people that want to argue or debate on this, waste of life. Better to be out riding.

Was thinking the same thing to be honest. No point arguing about it at all.

However if I saw the said car driver, I'd filter past them while doing a dry hump

Well, I voted before I read the topic. Here in my country you need separate licences for everything, so there is no such thing as a "full licence", hence my vote to disagree

Nah, because you have a bike and car licence doesn't even made you a fully licensed driver Betcha you'd struggle to drive a Road train or a 4 tonner.

Some skills you could transfer across to a car, i.e. awareness of looking for bikes. But although there both on the road, there different vehicles. You then have HGV's, road-legal tanks, tracked vehicles.. wouldn't say it was full at all.

That's just arrogant and ignorant people. Theres a mass collective of sheeple who think that roads are for cars and anything else doesnt have a right and must bow to them.

I was a good driver until I got into riding bike in my early 20's...then I became a great driver! Only then do you realize how bad other drivers are and how defensive/offensive minded you need to be. 1.8 million miles later as a driver, no accidents. I owe my driving skills directly to people trying to kill me on my bike!

I think you need bigger things to worry about ...

But yeah, it's all semantics. Can you legally traverse a public roadway? You are a legal driver. Can you do it in a large commercial vehicle, motorcycle, car, submarine and hot air balloon? No? Then you don't have a "full" license. But that's not really a thing ... at least in the US.

I've literally never had this discussion with anyone, so I'm sort of confused as to how it comes up so often for you.
