Re: Motorcyclists "moment of madness" doing 122 in a 40mph z

His "moment of madness" was stopping! Last time i went past a police car on my busa doing more than 200kph i opened the throttle, not shut it!

Re: Motorcyclists "moment of madness" doing 122 in a 40mph z

I have decided this man should become known as "the flying scotsman".

Apparently he didn't realise it was illegal haha

Having a Hayabusa will do that to a sane man. I could have gotten a more powerful bike but I realize that even the 95 hp I have is more than I'll ever use.

Re: Motorcyclists "moment of madness" doing 122 in a 40mph z

I thought I was gunna get 6 points and a massive fine for doing 42 in a 30 and was crapping myself at just that ( got off with a speed awareness course), but 122 in a 40?! I'd end up killin myself for fear of the consequences haha.

A camera on my helmet seems to help keep me well behaved. Seeing as I'm basically providing them with evidence if I get pulled for something, I'm now super careful with my speed

Re: Motorcyclists "moment of madness" doing 122 in a 40mph z

I don't know anything about the area where this went down, but I have seen areas that have a speed limit of 40mph that given ideal conditions could be considered safe for 122mph. I've done...err...I mean Ive SEEN somebody do 130 in a 55. There was nobody else around for miles. I...err...I mean he could see that the road was clear and there was nowhere where traffic could join the roadway. Jus' sayin'.

Re: Motorcyclists "moment of madness" doing 122 in a 40mph z

I've done 125 before and didn't see it as dangerous. Nobody else about quite motorway road.

Off topic : I thought the FZ8 was more powerfull than that, my FZS600 was 95bhp, pretty sure the FZ6 is 98Bhp.

40 in the UK will mean it's a pretty built up area, not like some of your limits in the states where dead straight empty roads are like 50's

Re: Motorcyclists "moment of madness" doing 122 in a 40mph z

Yes, it's an entirely different comparison. Here you can be "in a crowded city area" and still have roads with a 45mph limit yet there's no sidewalk, there are barriers on both sides so nobody could wander out, and yet the law says that since the roadway is adjacent to a housing division the limit cannot exceed 45. In other places we have highways with a 55mph limit and you can literally see 6-8 miles down the road and there are no turns, no businesses, no houses... nothing. Just flat ground. There are places in KS I would say it's safe to travel ANY speed you wanted but definitely not where this guy got pulled over.

(Kansas is very flat with VERY straight roads. It sucks for biking...)

My restrictors are in!

Nice to know you don't care about other people restrictors who aren't in. *cough* CARLSANT1 *cough*

Re: Motorcyclists "moment of madness" doing 122 in a 40mph z

In a way I'm kind of glad we have him off the road. After all, what impression does that kind of riding set to other road users? As motorcyclists we already have a bad enough reputation as speed merchants, do we really need people like that to confirm it?

People like him are killing off motorcycling.
