Minutes Watched Vs Video Length

Just wondering what everyone is running at. I've noticed in my own habits that I'm good for watching about 2-4 minutes (usually all the time I have between doing life) and never get to watch everyone's entire video. My anilitics are suggesting the same for my millions of...yeah, couldn't get through that without coffee coming out the nose... So let's be real and state my tens of viewers. What's your guys average vs video length?

If the video is crap, only a few minutes.

If it's great I'll watch 30-40 minute videos no problem.

So if you don't make great content keep it short.

I have ADD and PTSD and I CANNOT sit on a video longer than a few minutes, so my vids jump around alot when I edit. Some end up in the low 20 mins, like my 2k mile review, and some are under a minute.

Yup ADD here, can't stand 5 minutes or more unless the content is really interesting or fun. This is why I'm trying myself to put up shorter videos

Once a video gets to 10 minutes duration, then unless it's fascinating I will begin to skip parts. 20-30 minutes and I'll decide if I'm going to watch it based on uploader and topic. Over 30 minutes and I probably won't watch it unless I only have a couple of vids in my 'watch later' queue.

I was on about a 3 minute average, I'm guessing the rapid fire random obs get a decent watch time, but I can imagine quite a few of the longer vlogs either got started due to autoplay, or it wasn't what people expected, so clicked out quickly.

Be nice to know how many people watch it all, and how many click out in the first frw seconds, and how many get bored half way through as I think that would be more useful.

Did discover recently that about a 1/3 of views are subs, and 2/3 non subs. Suspect most of the non subs are views (brief or otherwise) on the topic vlogs that came up by suggestion.

Does anyone ever feel that you may be too concerned about "what other people think" and hence trying to come up with something that "pleases" the "people"?

What I'm trying to say is, sometimes it's best just to do it for yourself. Sure you might talk a bit slower, longer, get off topic, etc, but if you can watch yourself and accept yourself in the video, shouldn't that be good enough? Of course if there's room to improve, then go for it, but that's a process, not something that happens instantly.

Sometimes you have footage of some nice scenery or riding footage of buddies/yourself, nothing spectacular just mundane riding, but you enjoyed watching it, why not just post the whole thing up and keep it as a memory where you can click to watch in the future and still feel enjoyable when you watch it again?

Unless you are fully determined to be the most successful or top ten superstar motovlogger on the web, then ignore me completely. Sometimes it's good to just post what you enjoy to watch and if people like it, they'll watch too. Just saying.

Yeah I'm probably so out of context here. Sorry for the long post!

I'm not making my channel for anyone but me, but there's also the flip side that people do support your channel, and without anyone watching, you might as well just play the vids back on your own TV.

Plus there's always the element of curiosity of what the stats really mean :)

Well I broke my own 10 minute rule last week and uploaded a 36 minute video!! I expected to lose subs and get no love but have had an awesome response and the stats on that video are that EVERYONE has watched the whole thing, yet people have usually watched only part of my other videos, which are all quite short, so I don't have a clue any more, LOL.

I will say if I'm going to watch someone's work I watch the whole thing, if I don't have time I don't watch at all.
What IS this thing where many of you are watching only a small part of people's vids?? You just wanting to be involved? (serious Q).

An interesting thumbnail or title and then crap content that gets boring after a minute or two, or is unrelated to said title or thumbnail.

I'd say it depends on the video. I have videos with a really high minutes watched and others not so much. over all I wouldn't be worried about it to much.

I tend to be like most people, I'll watch a few minutes but when the videos get longer than 8 minutes I tend to be flicking between social media and stuff rather than watching the video

I have punched out early, but I have also watched the entire thing more than a few times. bakerXderek videos I always watch completely, he just has a way to present what he's doing, it's pretty awesome!
