I recently switched back to my cheapy mic. It's too much of a burden having to remember to switch on the audio technica, and then having to worry about my jacket switching it off (which happens a good bit). Placement is key, but I think I've found the best place for the helmet I use.. and it's still decently windy.

Mines poking out the front of my cheekpad with a rycote windjammer on, I think it's ok considering I'm on the motorway doing 70+mph and you can still hear me. You obviously get wind noise but I think a bit of noise is ok.

Best method for eliminating wind noise is to cut out a piece of open cell foam like you'll find in camera gear, cut a slot and stick the camera in it, then stuff all of that into a balloon or finger from a thin rubber glove. Tie it off and then stick THAT in your cheek pad foam. OR, you can go super cheap and just use a Neweer mic from Amazon for about $5. They have mediocre audio quality, but seriously reduced gain. I put a pair of them in my cheek pad foam up by my temples to try out binaural audio (pointless in a helmet) and they sounded okay.

I think the Mic itself is really good.... but not for Motovlogging because it just picks up everything and trying to dampen its capabilities when riding a bike is asking too much of any deadcat. Never thought I would complain about something being too good..

Concuro on the olympus. I stopped using it

Have you tried editing the audio in your video editor, or split the audio and use a sound editor to clean up the unwanted sound a bit?

Yup tried using audacity and the kinda makes the voice go a bit like a dalek.
I think there is only so much you can do when the mic has picked up so much.

Audacity is bloody brilliant! It got me decent audio out of an otherwise ruined marriage proposal.
