Hi all!
I sorta given up on using the Sony Webbie, so I ordered a MD80, well, I guess it's a clone version but it's 'MD80-like'. Cost about $14 over at DealExtreme.
To mount it inside my helmet I was inspired by a video I saw on youtube by stevosid, near the end of the video he shows a mount he made that allows you to shove a piece of plastic in between the helmet shell and liner and thus positioning the camera on the edge, inside the helmet next to your face (sorta). So I was thinking I could do somewhat the same, and since I'm somewhat skilled at 3D designing objects, it would be a cool idea to design a plastic mount that does the same and have it 3D printed!
One of the mounts that came with the camera had a bracket (that holds the camera) that is attached with two tiny screws and tiny bolds, so I removed those and desigend a new mount to which you can attach the original bracket with the two screws and bolds. That way you don't have to modify the camera or stick on velcro or doublesided tape or anything else to it so it stays like it originally was and can still be used for other applications.
The mount I designed: Front | Top | Rear
The parts you'll need that came with the camera: Bracket and screws/bolds
It's only a design right now, but I've ordered it and it should be here in a week or 2. When it comes in I can test it, modify and re-design if needed, and if all is good, it'll be available to purchase for around $7 ~ $8
