Hi all.

I am off to sowdon on friday and have ordered a tank bag with the full knowledge that it is magnetic and that I have a plastic tank. My question is can anyone think of a way to make it easily compatible with the plastic tank? or if anyone has ever come across ideas for those that can't just stick a tank bag on the bike quickly? Interested to hear what you guys think :)

Sellotape. Lots of sellotape.

Yeah, That was something i have though of, after my tail tidy issue it showed that tape does work, Not particularly practical though :P Im thinking more make the tank magnetic or even designing a strap system

Might have been easier to simply buy a plastic orientated tank bag.

Does it not have straps aswell? many do!

It has a shoulder strap which I am going to see if i can use it to mount it. It has handlebar straps to keep it on should the magnets fail i assume but nothing else other than the shoulder strap

Well I went to my local honda dealer as I know that a lot of hondas have plastic tanks and they had a 30l oxford for £100 which is just extortion for something like that. eBay was useless as well except for the magnetic ones.

There's a Givi set up you can get.

It's some straps that go on your tank and fit really nicely. Then the bag fits to that. Can put the bag on and take it off really easily while the straps stay on.

Get some thin steel sheet and cut really cool looking designs out of it. Paint the cutouts some cool color or just try to match the tank. Glue the cutouts to your tank in the spots where your magnets will sit.

Thin steel can easily be cut with tin snips. You can draw on it and follow the outlines. Fine tune the edges with sandpaper and to make it look really professional roll the edges. I'm sure you can find some youtube videos to help you out if you decide to go this route.

I was just going to suggest this, some sort of metal ont he tank where the magnet bits from the bag would go, make it look half decent and your good to go, that way in future, you know you got your tank bag for storage aswel

It arrived today and it has a shoulder strap which using the gap under my bikes tank I have threaded it through one side to the other. All I need to do is get it securely tight and on the anti slip mat and I am all good to go :) Not as big as I was hoping but should be sufficient for holding my waterproofs. This might be getting used a whole lot :D

After taking my bike apart after the crash i know there is more than enough space to glue some magnets under their (its double skinned by the way) if you have the right tools.

Not much point now lol Wrote it off on friday as well as LDB. I'm getting the footage today for insurance to look at and determine my next step :/ And I used the gap under the tank in the plastic side panels and a strap to keep it down :)
