Sounds all normal.

Good job not getting bothered by others who basically just think it's funny to raze you (as they have been no doubt), even though it's not really helpful.

No one has ever made fun of my bike to my face, but once I was asked if I pop wheelies on it, etc. When I said no, it's more of a cruiser/tourer they made a face like that's not good enough. I feel like, HEY, I'll ride any bike YOU buy me. And 75 - 80 mph just to keep from being run over in freeway traffic is plenty of excitement for me right now.

Some of my latest thoughts on Street Strategies in a short video below. I hope that gives you some food for thought and is helpful.
You might also want to sit through a longer video ShadowBoxer 0014 where I chat about my opinions on the horror stories we hear about motorcycles being dangerous.

I'm not sure but I think most of my videos are done at night. I find it cooler and safer usually IF one is watching out for others who may not see you. The point is that the later it gets the fewer other vehicles there are so it's actually easier to keep track of what's going on around you.

However that's just me.
You have to ride within your own limits and comfort zone. That will progressively grow with experience and practice. Ride in a manner that makes you feel safe. If you don't, it's your own fault.

Take care.

Hey thanks everyone haha.

I do enjoy riding it and I feel like it's exactly what I need. I can see myself getting a bigger bike later on, but for now I'm not tired of this one at all. :P

As long as you enjoy riding the bike, it's all that matters.
Damn straight. In my 20 years of riding I have caught a lot of flack over the years for whatever I chose to ride. Funny how most zip their mouths up real quick when they need to Borrow one , need help repairing something or need their Junk hauled to the dealer.

The Ninja 300 is a great bike if I wasn't so fat , old and had bad knees I might even be on one myself. RAR! Get off my lawn!

i think it always depends, i have the naked version of the ninja and i think she is a wonderful commuter, made especially for tight traffic squeezing ;), i have had larger bikes before and do miss them on the joy rides. Regardless, the 250/300cc today have come along way power and handling wise, i don't see why you would made fun of? Of course, those are not made for the track and i don't think that you will try to challenge and R1 on the traffic light, just enjoy and keep spanking her ;)

Hey, great video. I think when people are clowning with you, you can just ignore them. It is definitely a stigma when you are in high school. Ride what you feel comfortable on. If you are looking for some good rain gear, look at "My NEW Gear!!! video on my channel.

Heh, everyone starts somewhere... and plenty of people stick with that bike for a long time!! If people wanna give you shit they probably forgot how they got into riding.

^^^^^^^^^ Exactly.
Everyone always starts at a beginning. They forgot how they started OR don't really ride but wish they had the guts and their shit together as much as you do to get this far.
Repeating what others say means they don't have to think or even really know anything to repeat an opinion they think makes them sound witty. They feel less like losers, but they sound like parrots.

I wouldn't be surprised if half of them don't ride at all and wish they did.
"Really? You think that bicycle is faster than this bike? Cool. That's excellent news!
How much would you like to bet on it..."

As always... Shadow boxer says it WAY better than I ever could lol :)

I ride a cbr500r and my friends all ride 1000cc bikes... i cop it bad... but at the end of the day... i can get the xr400 out on the dirt and none of them have a hope in hell of keeping up with me... even on the crf450 ;)
don't let it bother ya as long as you like the bike who cares... i personally love my cbr500r because its got loads of torque and is good in traffic

making fun of people cause their bike has lower CCs is just stupid.
Unless they can elbowdrag that 300cc bike, the 1000cc wont be doing nothing for them. Unless you are simply counting "Go Power".

Haha good point guys. The one thing right now I dislike about the 300 is that on the freeway, sometimes the speed of traffic is going about 70-80mph. I really feel like I'm at the mercy of the cars at that point. The only thing I can do is match speed or slow down.
