Macbook PRO and 1080P Videos

Went to review some footage today, mainly the difference between recording in 4K at 60FPS and recording in 1080P at 240FPS with the GoPro Hero6 Black but my MacBook Pro won't play the 1080P footage, it just stutters along. This is a brand new Macbook Pro so I doubt it's hardware/software. Any ideas?

A different issue to what you are having, but unless you are wanting to use it as slow-mo footage the 240 will look garbo when on youtube if on a motorbike at speed, most editing programs I've found won't render at anything above 60fps so the editing software nerfs the quality and then YouTube nurfs it some more. If you want better quality on YouTube, run the 4k 60 stuff if you have the storage space and battery capacity to do so.

Makes sense, the Hero6 gets about an hours footage at 4K 60FPS but I do carry extra batteries so I guess i'll roll with that then. Thanks for the information RE: YouTube nerfing the quality of 240FPS. :)

it was the first test I did with my new Hero 6, not at 240, but at 120 in superview. I almost returned the camera after seeing how YouTube nerf'd it. Since that try I have had great results using 2.7k/60 in superview which has the added bonus of making the footage better even when viewed in 1080 on YouTube.

Just curious, are you playing your footage off a SD card, from a flash drive, external, or a file on a cloud drive?

Your MacBook Pro should be able to play it. How much RAM do you have, and are you running other programs on your laptop when you are trying to play it? When you said you’re pulling the footage off the camera, you meant you made a copy of the file on your desktop and are trying to play that?
