Hi guys,

Was riding along at a constant 50mph today for about 10 minutes and then suddenly my bike had a complete loss of power and almost stalled, and then saved itself and carried on! In this time, it happened quite quick so i still had the throttle open but i just wondered if anyone would know what this could be?

Also, looking to get a different 125 whilst im waiting to do my A2 so was just wondering if anyone could recommend decent 125s? Im looking at the Yamaha R125 or the Honda CBR125 so if anyone has any experience with them, i would love to hear your opinion :D

Yea sounds like it may be fuel (carbs, spark plugs, running too rich or just a simple blockage) or the air valve for the tank to help with fuel flow...

It was either a piece of crap when from your petrol tank through the carb into one of the jets clogged for like a second then got blown back out again (most likely)

Or .... My bike started doing this... THe piston started seizing BUT ... the chances of this happening on a 4 stroke are like... miniscule

If it keeps happening check for a vac lock in the gas tank. Mine was doing that until I removed the smog junk and put a vented cap on the hose coming off the gas cap.
When mine was doing that crap it would just die all the sudden and would restart after sitting for about 5mins, then after I figured out what the problem was I could simply twist the gas cap loose and it would restart like flipping to reserve after running out of gas while riding at speed.

I can answer both your questions at once mayhap :D When I had my '05 plate honda cbr125 it kept cutting out randomly and it turned out that opening the fuel tank made it start again. It turned out that when it'd been serviced before I bought it, whoever had taken off the fuel tank and replaced it has crimped the engine breather tubes by accident. After that, it was a sweet little runner, never had any problems.

In terms of what 125, I have to say, the Yammy is hella nice but it's also a lot of cash for a 125. It's also a better bike all round compared to the CBR. I loved my old CBR but it did look a bit mickey mousey, it was obviously a small bike if you get what I mean. The new models are nice I guess, because they look more like a big bike (personal preference, I hate the styling tbh) however, but if you're going to spend that much cash on a new CBR, you'd be better off going and spending the same amount of cash on a second hand Yammy.

Wow, That's a really good suggestion. :P

From the post right before yours:
