Rant Lions And Tigers And Cecil Oh My! (cecil The Lion)

You talk a lot of sense and I'm a firm believer in the best way to conserve these animals is to manage them as a commodity (which would include hunting) otherwise scumbag humans will go for the short term pay off and not play the long game.

My only issue is the way you say CECIL

I agree with you 100%. Most people out there don't get it though, I'm glad to have found at least one person who understands my viewpoint.

Let me guess, you pronounce Cecil as se-sul while I pronounce it as see-sul? It has to do with me being in the US while you are in GB. Every news outlet in the US pronounces it see-sul. I saw a British guy do a YouTube rant and he pronounced it se-sul. Even if I hadn't heard it pronounced I would still pronounce it see-sul as that's how I pronounce that name. It's just one of those dialect differences.

The main problem is with giving out permits for money ... If he was told it was legal then its the guides fault ..my concern with him is the bow and arrow letting the animal suffer and with trophy kills , if you killed it with your hands (trophy ) if with a weapon (coward) I think the highlight of the story should be on the permit laws of Zimbabwe rather than pinning the complete blame on this guy (although $50000 to kill an innocent animal for fun is fucked up)

Gotta agree with you on that point. Let him walk around nearly 2 days with an arrow sticking out only to kill him later with a rifle? That's piss poor hunting. Otherwise I really have no opinion on the matter except to say I don't like the idea of going all the way to another country to kill an animal I'm not going to eat and who never bothered me. Not judging people that do, but it ain't for me.

Meanwhile...the people in Zimbabwe are glad to have one less predator that could eat them...
