Can anyone tell me how to make this stop?

In all honesty though, it looks like that's exactly what's happening. Digital cameras really don't handle lens flare too well. Unless ofcourse it's happening when the camera's not pointed at the sun, in which case...I got nothin.

nah it's definitely related to the sun, but I'm on the lowest exposure setting and it still happens :(
 
I wouldn't expect changing the exposure settings to actually have any effect. Unfortunately it's the kinda thing that, as far as I know, you can't do shit about.
