can someone help me i want to post a petition to legalize lane splitting in texas and on a federal level im unsure what to write in the description can someone write something so i can paste it

as a few vloggers have touched on I think "filtering" rather than "lane splitting" should be legal. (Melbourne, aus here). Lane splitting would be pretty hard to police. riding on the line, not indicating when splitting between cars but officially merging between lanes etc. I lane split all the time when the traffic drops down to a crawl. Some people tend to split between cars going 100km/h when the traffic is flowing at a steady 95Km/h. In my eyes this is pretty dangerous and unnecessary but will be officially legal.

unfortunately there are too many people that will abuse the law for this to become legal. Definitely for my city anyway

This will never be legal in Australia. The current trial in NSW if for filtering past stationary traffic. This is what motorcyclists are trying to legalize across the country. Splitting through moving traffic is and always will be illegal here, and is in most countries. If anyone tells you otherwise, look up the government or law enforcement websites and look for yourself. Most rumours are bullshit.

If lane splitting is done safely its ok it shouldn't be illegal but taught to riders so they can do it safely and as far as filtering is concerned cagers cry because they want to be the kid in the front on the lunch line

Filtering would be great, but there is already a problem with road rage and horrible road conditions. It would be a slow and progressive program to implement a new moving traffic law.

In my neck of the woods, people are too stupid to acknowledge road signs like this:

They come to a complete stop and wait for traffic to clear before they move into the NEW LANE that is just for them.

I could only image the chaos that lane filtering would do to some of the ignorant fools on the road.

That is so horribly true!!!

I lane split all the time (see my only public video) and I know I wouldn't ride nearly as much if I couldn't. Lane split past a police car last week with no issues. Provided it's done safely while traffic is moving slowly and can't lane change quickly without notice, there's no issue with it. I'd rather that than sit behind some vehicle and get rear ended because some idiot hasn't seen me. I've seen this happen three times, with drivers running into the back of cars, so for me that is a a very real danger.

I signed both petitions.
But I really think you'd be better off making the texas petition through Change.org.
I had to go through a bit of a proceedure to sign up especially seeing as I'm not american.
Where as change.org can be signed and shared via facebook.

There was a recent campaign by the motorcycle risers association in Australia for legalising it. They were advertising it a lot on the net. Fingers crossed that it does become legal as they had lots of great facts backing up the safety reasons for it.

Ha ha! Here it isn't legal, but its not illegal.

There is no word on the road code against it, but neither for it.
There is HOWEVER an article that says that bicicles and motorcycles cannot ride side-by-side (from the wording, 2 bicicles cant ride side by side, and 2 motorcycles cant ride side-by-side, but a motorcycle and a bicicle can.... LOL).

And the only thing it violates is:
The definition of "lane" ("a piece of the road intended for the use of a single line of vehicles").
and MAYBE the procedure on overtaking (Must leave enough lateral distance to prevent accidents).

So we ride in this wonderfull void. Filter past cop cars ar 120kph, filter WITH motorcycle cops at high speed... the workz. :D
