Leathers

Seen a few leathers going cheap, but was flummoxed as to the sizing, so upon a bit of searching of these funny numbers that don't make any sense in inches or centimetres.

It would appear that my svelte figure means that I'm not going to fit in any anytime soon as I appear to have a disproportionately large cheat to waist, or small waist to chest.

Basically I'm a bean pole... What's the consequences of having a loose waist band but a fitting chest? And do I buy for my exact chest size, or do I allow for a little space?

Cheers!

Well it's second hand kit, some a moderate distance away, so hoping to get an idea of what I should be aiming for before heading off to aimlessly try on all if the suits in Yorkshire :)

I don't know much about the full suits but I have heard that they are usually tailored to the person just like you would do with a dress suit or something. I'm sure they have standard sizes but I really well fitting one would have to be tailored to you. Good luck on finding out though.

Never thought if alterations! Couldn't go for a tailored one, it would just be expensive. Looking at used.

So with leathers do you normally buy for your actual measured size, or worth going up an inch?

Best is to try at a local store, and search online for the cheapest, not all brands have the same cut, and if you're having a body shape that is not norm to the standard mold (according to size) i.e. larger belly/longer arms or legs/etc, you can do alterations, but make sure the alterations are done properly by skilled professional using quality leather, you don't want those seams or leathers ripping apart if and when you fall/crash/slide.
Ideally leathers should fit, if not it will flap about at speeds and can be annoying and sometimes painful if it slaps your body while flapping, if they are loose.

UK riders must all be fat or short from what's out there on the shelves :)

Ya, if you are above 6 feet tall it seems that it's kind of hard to come by leathers. The two piece zip together set that I have I got about 10 or 11 years ago. They don't have a number size but they are 4XL. When I originally ordered them I ordered a set of 3XL and they wouldn't fit because of my height (6'2"). So I had to go with the 4XL (I believe the biggest size this particular company made).
