That's the sort if ridiculous quotes I get for sports 600s. I've checked many, many times and am 100% sure I'm not doing anthing wrong. Im 19 and passed my test in May.

Jesus, you guys really do get scammed by those insurance companies, you might as well just buy a new freaking track bike every year for that price.
That bike would cost $1820.00 CAD or $1149.45 BPS. And we Saskatchewan people think our rates our outrageous (well they are for us)

The answer is simple: you're looking for insurance on a zx6r right after passing your test. Did you really think it'd be low?

It's crazy how many people pass their restricted licence, buy a sports or supersports 600 and don't bother with restricters, then crash. I'm not saying you'd do that, but it would raise the insurance rate for you and, go be honest, its not exactly the best bike to get after passing your test to start with.

Both my bikes cost just over £1000 to insure total. It's amazing what a few years no claims will do. Pick up a cheaper bike, learn how to ride and maybe in a few years get your zx6r, I'd say.

Thats what I was planning on doing. I was planning on buying some crummy old vfr 400 (on offence to vfr 400 owners) and use that for a few years. But I get £6000 quotes for the er 6n I found one for £4000. its just mad. And I have a years of no claims already so one more and maybe it will be cheap? xD

You're spot on, 3-4 years of no claims will see the cost of the premium reduced by quite a considerable amount, even if it is a powerful bike.

You'll find your age is a big factor in high insurance quotes. I don't know how old you are, but I do know that after I turned 21, and after I get my second years NCB, my insurance is pretty good. For example, a brand new GSXR600 TPFT for £600. FC £1000.

I am very soon to be 18. :P but I already have a years of no claims... one year must not affect it much xD

Im now 27 ,had my full licence for 7 years, just renewed my insurance on my GSX-R 750 K7, fully comp with all the extras for £525.

If you do that, you will never buy a zx6r. The vfr is a way better bike!!! :D

I Have 1 years no claims bonus and got an SV650S 2007 insured for £1200 with extras (scorpion can etc) and I am 18. I followed leedsriders advice and used the bike insurer comparison website and it was very good :) What you want to look out for is the excess. mine is in the region of £1000 total so be careful with that. The SV with the gear on it looks like a gixxer and I love it to bits. My advice would be to listen to friz and get a cheaper bike. fair enough, I havent followed that advice, but I have done quite a few miles and have a full car license with company miles too. What you are thinking with the VFR400 is not a bad idea. there are plenty around and I mean just look where mcn rated it in a top 100 bikes! http://www.motorcyclenews.com/MCN/Top-1 ... ?id=121351
