Lane splitting versus filtering

Just for some bloke calling himself Fourth Gear on YouTube, who has clearly never got out of fourth gear in his congested 4-wheel world, and has a psychological problem with motorbikes safely and legally filtering.

In his world, it is not legal, and is super dangerous, with every biker being a menace.

Poor guy. Get some therapy!

i think it really depends. No i am not arguing about its dangerous or not, because its not, BUT it pretty much depends how aware the 4 wheels are whats going on around them.
Like here in Indonesia there is absolutely NO WAY not to filter or lane split, so as a 4 wheel driver you are aware of the motorbikes cycling around you like a swarm of bees and that's how the traffic flows, you get a certain sense of defensive driving when you are in the car. However, everywhere else where the amount of motorcycles is far less than it is here for example, it's called dangerous because as a 4 wheeler you would actually make use of that mirrors... ah and that can't be! ;)

It's much simpler to define them differently in a country where filtering is legal. I see filtering as slowly and safely travelling between lines of cars that are not moving freely or not moving at all (ie congested, queues).

Lane splitting I see as overtaking at speed, which is also undertaking at speed, in freely moving traffic. Which I perceive as extremely dangerous and pretty much pointless.
