Hey Guys So i was just wandering when you are out riding and you see someone else on a motorbike in Jeans Can you tell if they are kevlar jeans or normal jeans because I have just bought some kevlar jeans not to look cool or anything but for comfort and i bought them instead of wearing normal jeans for safety and as i will be riding a 125 i dont want to be put into the catogory of " Its just a chav waiting to get a car" because i havent got proper trousers on.. so what do you guys think to the idea of Kevlar jeans aswell?

Re: Kevlar jeans and normal jeans can you tell the differenc

Kevlar jeans are awesome. If you know what they look like you can tell who is wearing them, but no one notices unless I tell them I'm wearing kevlar.

I don't think people really care that much. Plenty of people ride in just normal jeans, not being chavs or anything.

If you're in a full shell suit I'd think otherwise.

Ahh Fair enough :) do u reckon i may get a few nods here and there?

You'll get fewer nods with jeans of any type than riding trousers, but unfortunately the 125 will make more of a difference. You'll still get a few though, nod to everyone all the same :)

Focus on riding the bike than the Nod's, Kevlar Jeans work and don't care what people think of you. You know your safe end of. Just remember you live in the UK, you won't get many days where you can ride in Kevlar jeans & be comfortable.

When I passed my test I didn't get any more Nod's than usuall I was still on a 125, nearly all 125's are small bikes so people can reconise if your on one or not. now i'm on the SV i'm getting them left right and centre my neck is aching haha.

Ride in what you feel comfortable in, Don't care for what other riders think of you. Your safe you know it ride on.

I would say get some under armour. Mate of mine came off in draggin jeans, still had a hole in his knee afterwards, jeans are still good and he still wears the same pair but the impact and friction transferred heat through the jeans really fast and still hurt him pretty bad, he now wears strap on CE knee and shin armour underneath them and wears it all day.

Re: Kevlar jeans and normal jeans can you tell the differenc

I've come off in kevlar jeans, normal jeans and full leathers.

Nothing beats full leathers which i think are more comfortable whilst riding, but i think the jeans are better for around towns and cities, kevlar jeans and cargo hold up so well i've come off at 20mph and 30mph in them and i use them over and over and they still look fairly new (apart from a little oil stain) normal jeans might do the at slower speeds but anything over 30mph i'd recommend kevlar material, normal jeans only held up one crash but never again lol, my Kevlar's i use over and over with no problems. And to be honest not that many people can tell when you're passing each other and not many people care they just nod anyway.

He sent me through the link because I was looking at getting a set so will have a look for it, think they were only £17.99.

Surely Full Leathers win this argument?

Kevlar is not waterproof unless laminated, I'd suggest certianly over winter/rain you pop into Hein Gericke and check out some winter gear, Gloves pants and jacket. Most will be thermal lined to keep you warm, (they don't really, you should wear a thin fleece aswell really) dry and protected.

My trousers are Deinese Gore-Tex and they are brilliant, remove thermal lining in summer and put back in during winter, waterproof & like most come with a zip around the waist to make sure your jacket won't let that draft in.

Re: Kevlar jeans and normal jeans can you tell the differenc

i wear kevlar jeans all the time and i brought some knee padding seperatly but what you have to think about is when you buy them what happens when it starts raining well a simple sulution is go buy some cheap waterproofs for a couple quid and then your sorted and if you carry a bag with you while your riding just put your waterproofs in your bag then when it starts raining take them out your bag and put your waterproofs on :)

Re: Kevlar jeans and normal jeans can you tell the differenc

i wear kevlar jeans, they are 100% coverd. not just kevlar patches. they work well. get a bit warm on sunny days but you do feel safer knowing.
