Kevlar Hoodie By Gogo...

Just saw this hoodie and love the idea of it. A little skeptical of it in terms of protection however, so wanted to get some opinions. The back of the hoodie and the back of the arms are lined with Kevlar and is full of CE rated armour in eblows/shoulder/back. The front however is just thick cotton, which on asphalt might as well be thick tissue paper. Thought of complimenting it with a leather vest just to upgrade the abrasion resistance around the torso.. What do you guys think of that combo and the hoodie itself? Would you feel confident riding in it? Below is a video review of the hoodie. (not mine, the owner of GoGo)

No offence to you, as I know you did not create this, but I think it is shit..... Both conceptually and functionally
Fucking hate hoodies anyway, round my way the only twats that wear them are the scooter boys with their 50cc putt putts, going up and down the street till 1 in the morning....Grrrrr.

No offence taken at all. Do you think the kevlar wont hold up or that the hoodie will twist and ride up during a crash? Im less than confident about the protecton aswell, but Kevlar is supposed to be pretty abrasion resistant. The cotton armoured hoodies are garbage, just curious if this is more of the same.

Thanks for the reply.

There is what you said about the riding up, protective clothing is supposed to stay in place, also being in the uk we have to think of other functionality, like being water proof and preferably have some decent wind resistance.

I reckon it'll do the exact opposite of what you want. It won't slide.

The cotton will snag, twist the hoodie and before you know it the unreinforced cotton (tissue paper) is suddenly the only thing between your skin and the squid shredding tarmac. Plus without sliding, it'll make you roll. And that's how arms and legs get broken. Plus I wore a hoodie under my leather jacket once, and the hood flapped around like a spaniels ears out of a car window at anything over 45 MPH!!

Yeah what above said, protective gear is meant to slide. Look at all the MotoGP crashes riders walk away from, they just slide then stand up while the bike flips like 10 times.

I think these are designed for those who don't wear gear at all.

Anything protective is better than nothing.

Lets face it, road riding normally ends up hitting something, rarely a proper slide.

Id wear it
theres a leather hoody from Icon aswell. I like them

as for the hood flapping above 45mph.. I havent had that issue, and ive done 180kph while wearing a hoodie...

I' ear normal ones over my my leathers as well. I did a few track sessions in one as well. No issue with the flap

I was suffering from a lot of buffeting around my head at the time actually. Probably didn't help matters. I've changed my screen now but not tried a hoodie since! So I rescind my flappy comments on the grounds of being scientifically unsound!

Kevlar is good agaisnt tearing and abrasion, but another thing that would concern me as if the hoody grips the road ie friction causing you to roll down the road instead of with leather which is better for sliding, you might just get hurt more.
