SHABBA!
HOWDY!

Just wandered through the depths of the internet to find out how to improve my MotoVlogs, and found this little slice of heaven! Hoping for some great advice from you all and to make some new mates and even become a better MotoVlogger!

I currently ride a Yamaha YZF R125 that I have chaved up to my liking and my goal for next year is to either get my dream bike a 899 Panigale or a R6 or R1. Though I am a Learner rider who doddles around in the South Coast of the UK I do some pretty randomly long Rideouts so not being able to use Motorways does not stop me from getting to meets and bike nights!

Fun question I am asking Y'all!!

Forgot to post a pic of my Baby!

Also a nice pic of me before a lot of mods were done.

...hmmm, so how long have you been riding  ??? You say you are a learner rider... I take it you are still learning :p (well, even experienced riders still learn new things as they ride anyways >_> ...)??? If you are (the way I understand it), Go with an R6 or a 636... you'll kill yourself on an R1 if you're just starting out :p (the R1 is nice, though ;) ). Work your way up - just my two cents ;) .....

Good luck ^_^ !

(you'll be impressed by how much power the 600-class motorcycles have btw ;) .....)

Been riding now about 3 years maybe four, ridden a few 600s on track and ones not so legally and my sisters R1 on a private road back home was a nice mountain road for 5miles and it was a nice handling bike but the only thing that puts me off is it eats tires, sprockets and chains and drinks fuel! 899 well it is sexy! My mate refuses to let me try his 636 until I pass!
As for a learner I do still have the blasted L(egendary) plate on the rear of my beautiful bike as I have failed my test twice once for speeding 32mph in a 30mph zone and the second was for having my Tinted Visor, so that was £500 wasted, in the process of saving up again! Being 24 and on a 125cc kinda gets me down but I am just glad to have 2 wheels!
The process of my learning I think will be a fun series to Vlog through! May also give other learners some tips, might have to do this.

Wow, a 32 in a 30 :o ??! They won't even look at you funny here unless you're going over 5 over :p . I guess I was just lucky that I did the MSF course and got my license right off the bat :p ~o~ .

Anyways, that is a beautiful bike you have ;) . Shame that when upgrading, we sometimes have to say goodbye to the ones we love :( .....

My instructor who followed me said he thinks it was because I wanted a R1 as a next bike he purposely failed me, but we can't prove it to appeal the reasons. You wouldn't get a ticket for that speed though.
Termi does me well, gets me from A to B and I will never sell her as my partner wants a bike so she can have it..... As long as she puts a deposit down on the next bike for me.

Well i say get what ever you can afford, insurance is going to f*** you over on a first big bike (especially super sport)... I would suggest something (used/older!) like a honda hornet or yamaha xj6, or an ER6 ;)

I paid over £1500 TPFT and mine is a sports tourer...

My r125 is my only bike as unfortunately it is all my licence allows me to use, the 899 Panigale was something I found in Silverstone Moto GP last year!
I know it is not much but they let ya take it around a tiny course and it was fabulous to ride, easy to use at low speeds! THE POWER! Beats the whole 15 I have in my r125 haha

Welcome aboard dude. Its a shame the dude failed you for speeding. On my test I actually went in HOT at a roundabout, barely checked and ignored alot of the examiners command (which if you do it safely, he can not fail you for not listening to his instructions) and yet he still passed me. Sometimes luck just needs to be on your side I guess.

Damn thats expensive, on my CBR 600 sports tourer, I got £850 fully comp and £550 for third party. I was only 21 at the time.
Now on the same bike I'm paying £527 fully comp with 1 years no claims.

You must live in an expensive postcode.

Yea I don't have much luck hehe
I did a fake insurance quote earlier for all 3 bikes new and a um "full" licence
All new with the prices from a main dealer.
899 Panigale £12,999 fully comp £800
R1 fully comp £1,005
R6 fully comp £750
MCE is a great place for insurance!
All with my proper details just the licence was altered.
To be fair I think for a brand new bike those prices are kinda fair, the Panigale surprised me most. Deffo coincidering the 899 if it is that cheap!

Wow, it costs me about £280/year (~$40US/mo.) for full coverage here in the states :o . That's totally wacky insurance you have over there :o !!!

In the states, do you insure the bike alone or is it like here where you insure the rider and the bike. For example, if Ive got insurance on my motorbike, no-one but me can ride that bike legally on the road (unless they also have a bike with full comp insurance). I'm pretty sure, in the US you insure the bike so anyone with a valid license can ride it right?

Hmmm, I'd have to read the fine print :o . In a car, anyone I give permission to drive it can and will be covered. On the motorcycle, I know the downside to the insurance I have is that State Farm will only cover up to $1,000 of medical bills :( . Ah, well, that's what medical insurance is for, right :p ;) ?

All I know with my insurance is I am insured and it's fully comp, as long as it is a 125 or lower I can use it and I have an extra of £750 of bike kit cover and the RAC breakdown lmao oh and I am covered for all my mods.

Dunno if is good or bad, going for the theory again next month as mine ran out haha. Hoping very soon I can get the test passed and what ever two wheeled joy I can get out of my list.

I was 17 at the time, had my licence for 6 months or so and was riding for about 9. This year it went down to £400-450 (can't remember what I'm paying) TPFF.

Actually my area is very safe, police publish all crimes recorded and there was 1 in the last 6 months within 5 miles radius from my house, it was domestic violence...

Welcome aboard Brony, I started on a 125 (albeit the YBR 125) and got myself unrestricted ASAP, Sucks that the tester failed you for going 32 in a 30mph, that's very harsh. I got lucky that I got a tester who was so chilled out about it all, he gave me 3 minors and said that "one of them shouldn't really count because it was the silly bitch in the ford KA who stitched you up there!" (It's a long story - Maybe i'll explain it in a vlog)

Best advice I can give you is to practise riding "Test-style" on your 125, do your life-savers, mirrors, stick to speed limits and don't be tempted to do anything that you don't legally have to do (like filtering and overtaking) I found it really helped me to lock-in on that mindset on my actual test, in fact I can still do it now! :D I could do my entire commute to work in "Test mode" if I wanted to. (Might make for another mildly interesting vlog)

Good luck and stay shiny side up! Let me know if you're ever in Kent/East-Kent - We'll see if we can meet up.

I don't think it works on crime reports alone. The cheapest postcode in the UK (I read it up somewhere a while ago) is BH1. Bournemouth is known for a lot of petty crime and probably has a lot of various crimes reported daily. I really don't know how the insurance database actually works out the price. Not sure if anyone on here has worked for a vehicle insurance company before..

For your first bike i suppose oyu have about 10 grand for a 899 panigale right? Get somethign cheaper for your first big cc bike, like a90s superbike plenty of get up and go.

I have about 2.5k for a deposit and I don't mind a finance to my name, why I want one of those three bikes also a pre owned bike there is always a possibility that there will be a underlying problem, I bought my 09 r125 from a shop Sommerset and rode it home to get a service and had half an a4 page with faults so I rode it back and got £800 back because of this. Has unfortunately put me off pre owned bikes, as much as I like the Panigale the rose tinted goggles have worn off.....slightly... It is a run between the r6 and r1 both I have ridden....not so legally but I enjoyed them both lmao though once I pass I will take the 899 out for a proper test ride! Love the Panigale vid there, someone riding it fast for once good job bro!
