Because Motorcycle
I watched this on my lunch break and here is my .02
I can't help but notice that multiple large motovloggers have come out with a video on this topic. Jake, Dan, Snowcat from who I can remember and I'm sure there are more that I haven't run across yet. And if someone hasn't done a video on it they will eventually. Why is this? You can't tell me this is organized by the "top" motovloggers. You can't tell me that they all don't talk to one another. I think they are afraid of losing their market share to others. It's a small market share, but the top people do make a lot of money doing this.
Sadly because of the fact that the bigger people can make money I feel like some of them have "sold out" and don't really upload for fun. They have turned it into a job and try to upload as much as possible. Some people still make quality ass content though. Like Motonosity for instance. I loved his build series on his supermoto and he's doing a Ruckus now. That's some quality stuff imo and I'm totally into it. I'm sure he sunk some of that YouTube money into those projects and I'm ok with that. But then you get people like 6Foot who tries to shove his Back The F*ck Up merch in your face every single video that can get old. I like watching the guy, but I think he goes a little overboard. I have no problem with people trying to make money off of awesome ideas, but we're here for entertainment, not buying stuff or bending over and letting the bigger channels try to influence what us small people are doing.
I can see where YouTube may be messing with their algorithm to an extent, but I don't think it would change so drastically overnight like Jake claims it did. I think it comes down to the market is flooded....it's so true. Are we the smaller vloggers to "blame?" Kind of...That's what happens when the market gets saturated. The ones at the top are going to lose some shares in the overall motovlog viewer pool.
I've said it before and I'll say it again. Pretty much everything has been done in the world of motovlogging. We've got people that just ride and chat, we've got road rage or other interesting clips, we've got the crazy people who ride their supermotos up and down the stairs at malls and through parks, we've got stunters, we've got the higher production video people, reviewers, adventurers, and the list goes on. Every aspect of riding is covered by at least one "big" person and we all fall in line behind them.
Because of the staleness in the community I think people may just be falling back on the few people they like watching and dropping some of the bigger people. Or more people are watching the new people which leaves less time for the old farts in the community.
It's hard to say. I personally don't think motovlogging is dead. I'm leaning towards thinking with the increased numbers of content makers viewers are just going elsewear OR YouTube is legitimately pushing out motovlogging little by little. They gotta pay their bills so they're going to feed viewers to content that they will watch more of. More views more money.
At the end of the day we should be doing what we love doing. Not trying to get rich off of YouTube like a lot of these people are trying to do. I for one am going to keep doing this until I don't enjoy it any more because right now I'm having fun.
