I totally disagree with Jake that we shouldn't motovlog. I'm kind of biased, seeing as how I just started.
Jake, Dan, and others have all done videos saying this lately - enough of a coincidence to tickle a conspiracy theorist's funny bone...
But I agree with Jake on many of his points. Vlogging is a niche, and motovlogging is a niche within that niche. Any schmuck can stick a GoPro on their helmet, plug in a mic, and ramble while they ride. Hell, even I can do it.
But the key is the quality. I actually went to school for video production, and I think I have a good eye for what looks good, so I'm trying to bring that to my videos. There's a lot of crap out there, motovlogs that I get bored with after the guy does a lot of talking without saying much of anything.
I also agree that there are sooooooooo many copycats. I'm looking for entertainment and/or education (which, by no coincidence, is exactly what I'm looking to provide on my channel). I'm also looking for something unique, either in the content itself or how that content is presented. The tried and true formula has gotten stale, and some new formulas are needed to breathe some new life into this. If I was Jake, I'd be looking for a way to do something new and keep people interested rather than complain about how all my income is going away. Actually, I'm not Jake, but that's exactly what I'm doing anyway!
