Issues With Youtube

Lazyman

Wannabie Member
I changed my username from A short lived name "IROC Beans" to Lazyman but, if you search Lazyman you get everything but my channel, if you search Iroc beans it's the 3rd link and the name on the channel shows Lazyman. If I had changed it a couple of days ago I wouldn't be ticked but this was close to 3 weeks now.

I'm pretty sure there's more than one "Lazyman" entry in their database, be it from a username, channel name, first name, last name, etc. I don't know their search algorithm but I think unless you are more specific like "Lazyman channel" in your search, YT just shows whatever that matches from their records. That's why you probably want a more unique channel name to bypass unrelated search results.

Not meaning to sound like a douche but, whan why does it show up if you search under my old name

Their tracker and past records don't just get deleted, it's probably on some historical logs/data so it matches when searched, but since you have changed the channel name it will show the current name and not the old one. Data is gold so they never really delete it from their end just cause you changed your channel name, in fact, changing names itself is a data record, maybe for YT it's to prevent abuse/infringement if some channel posts up videos/comment and later just changes name to cover their tracks.

I was having the same issue. Ended up just creating a new channel, as mine is relatively new anyways. Really frustrating if someone already has a large viewer base, though.
