Interesting Question

I have put the stand down at extremely long lights and sat on the bike with my feet on the pegs and never had an issue. It is not the norm for me but I have done it without issue.

I snaped the foot plate on mine so i cant park on grass anymore with out my bit of wood! i still sit on it tho while the stands down.

I think the kickstand is enough to support my weight and the bikes weight but the idea of doing it makes me cringe.

some people use the kickstand to turn their bikes around. Look up "kickstand bitch"

Me, I wouldn't have the nerve to try it. The Connie is 650 lbs of bike.

I've seen that before, too. My luck is I'd flip it around and the kickstand would still be on the pavement and the dummy switch stuck on.

Ive never had a problem but i do check where the stand is (mud) but don't lean for long , if I'm chilling for longer I'm on the centre stand ..also have to be careful when its hot (not often here) as the side stand sinks in the tarmac

If I'm taking a break while riding, I'm off the bike, why would I want to still be sitting on it?

Anyhow, I wouldn't worry about the side stand failing structurally, but I would worry about the bike rolling and the stand folding up, or worry about the hot pavement melting and letting the bike fall over.
I wish we had enought hot weather to worry about the hot pavement melting and letting the bike fall over.....in England we are more likely for it to be blown over with the wind or it going for a swim due to all the rain! lol!

I've sat on the bike with my feet resting on the frame sliders and the kickstand down a couple of times but I'm not proud of it haha. I don't think I'll do it again just to be safe.

Seen people do it a lot, some even manage to lay down with there feet up over the handle bars, but I never do it myself.

This is what I do LOL. I figure if bikes where not made to be sat on with the stand down they wouldn't let you try them all at the international motorcycle show.

I never sat on the old bike as I never trusted the stand to hold the bike without me on it.

This bike I think I'd be fine sitting on it.

Actually, what I would be more concerned with is the link between frame and kickstand suddenly breaking (due to fatigue) rather than the stand itself snapping, unless your kickstand is carbon fiber (after market).. Yes sir.. CARBON FIBER kick stand, on a Ducati Panigale. LoL. Obviously. What other type of bike would an owner fit a carbon fiber kickstand to. :)

Ive always felt iffy about sitting on the bike with the stand down, its not that I don't trust it, I just don't like the feel. I will lean against it with the stand down, but if I'm on it I just put the stand up, I trust myself a little more ;)

I do it all the time. I tip my bike up on just the kick stand sometimes when I need to spin it around. I think it depends on the bike though
