I've been thinking about getting an Icon Variant Helmet (yes I know at this point it's kind of a joke that every motovlogger has one)

I like the style of them and from what i've heard the build quality is awesome. My plan is to keep using my Icon Alliance as my filming helmet, and for days where I'm not filming to use the Variant.

However my issue is that my Alliance is an XL and at first it was really tight and now it's just a tiny bit loose. my head measures at exactly 23.5 inches, which is the very largest for a size large and the very smallest for an extra large.

I would like to get into a large but i'm a bit worried it'll be to tight... any suggestions?

Everyone has it because it looks so much like the master chief helmet! I can understand the appeal. Expect nimrods to go "You're imitating YummiR6!" though!

I think you should go to a local shop that stocks them and try them on. You really don't want to drop a lot of money on a helmet that doesn't fit right!

Oh YummiR6 where did we go wrong hahaha

I was going to try that actually. In fact I would much rather buy local even if I have to pay a bit more. Problem is I called all of them and none of them have any. One shop literally said "we had 3 of them and it took 2 years to sell them so we never got more"

Why don't you call the guys at RevZilla? I heard they go out of the way to help people with this stuff. They should be able to tell you if the Variant is the same shape as your Alliance. I would go with the large, it should loosen up (hopefully :D)

I've posted a few times and they haven't gotten back to me. I'm kinda debating on just going with a large. I just don't want to get it on and not be able to take it off lol

How did it turn out?
For me the problem was between Large and medium.
Mine old one large was a bit loose, but was not sure if medium wouldn't be to tight.

Went to one dealership and tested different icons (no variants though) and decided to order the medium on.

First fitting was a bit tight, but after that perfect.
Now we are a couple years further and it still fits perfect, a bit wiggle room, but only if i move it myself.

I used to wear an XL. Bought a medium one day and it's now actually a bit on the loose side. Better to buy a bit smaller and have it loosen up than buy a bigger one that gets twisted around your head in a strong wind

good thing I ordered a large then lol

Icon variants are the coolest helmet yet, maybe the Skully would be as popular if it wasn't soo expensive. But who doesn't want to be ironman!

I can't wait to get mine. I just hope it fits.

Yeah the skully looks awesome. But very pricey.

And I'd rather be batman any day

Usually with Revzilla you can order and if it doesn't fit you can send it back and order again. That happened to me once with a jacket that was too tight. I just sent it back an ordered a larger size, no problems with the refund or anything.

Nice that you can exchange/return for free, rule of thumb wear the helmet for at least 30 minutes indoors and feel for any discomfort/pressure points. If after 30 minutes (the longer the better) you don't feel any discomfort and the fit is proper (not loose), then you got the right lid. Otherwise you need to change size, and not all helmets will fit all people, some helmets have different internal shape that only fits certain people, so if the size is right but too much discomfort VS one size larger with no discomfort but loose fit, I would recommend getting something else, unless the pads are customize-able.

Since you already have an Icon you should have a good idea how it will fit, get the L and let the pads get soften up by wear and tear, should fit fine after that.

Go to a shop and test fit that shit

as for everyone having one, Hey its a good helmet. Thats why it is so popular

Love that idea except I'm in Canada and if I have to return anything I have to pay shipping and boarder fees.

Wow you should work for Revzilla they basically just said the same thing to me lol.

Yeah it's kinda hard because my Alliance that I have isn't loose enough to not wear but not crazy tight either. I ordered a Large. hopefully it'll work otherwise i'll exchange it
