I got a video picked up by Moto Stars!

The Forrest Gump of Motovloggers
In a shocking turn of events, my Night Riding / Bad Driver video got picked up by Moto Stars ... dude left me a comment on my video asking if he could use part of it in one of his compilations, so of course I said yes - all press is good press, right?

Here's his video:

And here's mine:

Mods, I wasn't quite sure where to put this, so feel free to move it if I screwed up.

No probs John, simple rule of thumb is, if you are posting your own video, it goes in members vlogs ;)

I had some doubt since it was my vid and someone else's... thanks for moving it :D

I'm keeping an eye on the stats, we'll see if it gives me a bump.

Cool, I dunno if I wanna be on that channel as it probably means either I crashed or had a close call. LOL

I'm curious if people will come check you out, they get a ton of views and DDFM uses thier videos for after action reviews too.

I'm not so sure either - lots of haters in Moto Stars' comments section ;) I just keep replying to their comments with a link to the original ... so far, nada.

It'll be interesting to see if DDFM says anything about it in an upcoming video. I wonder if he goes through and contacts the originators of content or just takes what Moto Stars does and runs with it?

I had a few compilation channels asking to use my near miss footage with my channel credited. I said yes, no prob. Didn't see any extra subs or views out of it, really. I did get one or two folks just comment on my vlog just to tell me it was my fault, I didn't care.
Didn't cost me anything, didn't gain me anything. *shrugs shoulders*

I have a near miss I caught on video coming up in a motovlog of mine, probably go live with it in a few weeks.

How do these compilation channels even find near misses like this on other people's videos? Are they constantly searching YouTube for near misses to use I wonder?

My experience with allowing my work be used in a compilation has been negative. Meanwhile they get to reap the views and subs for "featuring" it.

Maybe you will have better luck but unless I really know the creator...

Same here. I've given quite a few compilation channels permission to use a particular video of mine. I doubt I've gained a single sub from it. Although when I've watched compilation videos I've never considered subbing to any of the channels featured either. The very nature of the clips means they're not the normal content of the channels.

So far, no new views or subs on that video that I can tell, it's within the range I normally get on a vlog, but it may be on the high side of views at 123 in the last week or so. There IS a thumbs-down on my video though, so someone didn't like it.

The comments on the Moto Stars video are pretty negative, whatever. Probably won't allow it in the future.

Interesting. Ya I wouldn't think it would garner any subs really, but maybe some views here and there. I have followed back from compiliations myself to watch videos and even subbed a channel or two but I'm probably in the minority here.

I think the nature of near miss/crash compilations just garners negative comments in general, everyone has an opinion.

It's funny about thumbs down, I have 11 or 12 videos up now and only 1 thumbs down on a recent video. I laughed and thought - whoa, do I have a hater already?

I agree - people who like crash/near-miss compilations probably don't like regular vlogging channels anyway, but I have checked out a few channels because they were local to me - I recognized the roads they were riding on.

As for thumbs-down ... I get them occasionally, or in one case, it's the vast majority of viewers :D Controversial opinions will do that. I'm not sure if I have any haters or not, but engagement is engagement. My video with a 24% like/dislike ratio has over 600 views, FWIW.

I get downvotes on my videos from time to time. I also had a lot of those downvoters actually message me why they downvoted, which I honestly appreciated! They even had reasonable reasons mostly too and I could see their point of view.

Ironically I've had a few larger motovloggers tell me the YT algorithm doesn't care if a video gets upvotes or downvotes, they are all considered worthwhile interactions and are weighted the same. Don't know if that's true or not but it kind of makes sense.

That's totally cool that someone would take the time to message you why they downvoted - I got a few comments on my most-hated video telling me I was wrong, and I assume they were some of the downvoters, but there were a lot of them who didn't comment. On my other videos which get downvoted, I have yet to figure out why.

I think you're right about the like/dislikes being weighted equally - otherwise my vid probably wouldn't have been shown to many people after it fell below X% on that measurement.
