Mr AusAdventure

Adventure is as Adventure does
On a ride the other day I came across this Suzuki GSX650F just laying down n the side of the road taking a little nap.

Did I do the right thing?

What would you have done?

I wouldn't touch anybody's damaged property in case somebody accused me later of causing the damage.

You deffinitally did the right thing, picking it up for him could ahve unfortunately seem suspicous to some people and he might not have realised that his helmet had be (possibly) damaged by the bike landing on it :)

Yep, that thought definitely did go through my mind. I was thinking the same thing.

Good point about the helmet, I had not thought of that one. Now he at least knows that the bike came down on it and can make an informed decision as to whether or not he needs to replace it.

You did the right thing... I have picked up trash from the road though, multiple times. Today I nearly plowed into some with my car when the other dick-weed in front moved out of the way. I had a stopped, people probably got pissed behind me (indicative of one "mad dash to redline" when someone passed) until they saw that I was picking up someone's shit and tossed it to the side. It will be in the September "Outside the Vlogosphere" compilation. I probably saved someone some damage, or worse when it comes to folk swerving without looking.

Just a thought to be considered, it could have been stolen. It's somewhat easy for a set of guys to toss a bike in the bed of a truck.
Maybe they had second thoughts and parted with it before they got caught with it, hence the location.
Seems surprisingly likely....

I guess that is always a possibility. But the location is nowhere near as remote or private as many others in the area so I doubt it was stolen. I just think it was a case of lets go visit some nice places on our bike today, enjoying the scenery, not thinking about what we are doing and oops. Bike fell over!

It is amazing how much large crap ends up on the roads these days here, especially the freeways. I have seen fridges, mattresses and couches all siting on our local freeway! People just no idea how to secure their loads properly. Good that you stop to clear the path for others mate, most just swerve around and continue on their way.

Sounds like a ditched bike.... hahah

Is it still there?

No idea, it is about an hour from where I live. If it was left there it would probably have been torched by now! :o

You can't leave any vehicles too long on the side of the road around here!
