I once did that on my old 125, went straight into the back of a van, fortunately no damaged was caused, but I had a good 10 minute argument with the guy, as he break lights weren't working. If I hadn't of skidded I would have been fine. But he was adamant I was too close.

I've got in the habit of always braking with both front and rear, that way it becomes second nature in case of an emergency stop. Also, if I'm ever caught in rain, I follow about 2-3 times the distance behind vehicles as I normally would. In a car you slide a little, not a big deal...different story on two wheels.

I had at least a 4second gap, I just lost all control of breaking. The issue for me was, it wasn't a clear day I couldn't tell he was stopping because he had no break lights. But if I hadn't of skidded, I would have been fine.
