Yup that day has come that all bikers dread but know has a chance of happening at some point. I have crashed, main road was closed so I headed off down a side street to join up with the A316 and didn't notice a barrier across the road and hit is, swiping me off the bike. Thankfully I noticed it at the last second and hot the breaks else I wouldn't be walking now.
Light grazing to my arms and chest otherwise all ok.

Bike.. made me want to cry to see my pride and joy in bits on the floor. Mostly cosmetic damage, fairing etc but also bent gear shifter, broken off mirror, leaking fluids.

No idea on the costing yet as its in the shop. Enjoy the pics and sigh at 'How did you not see that barrier!'

=[ bad times!

At least you can walk away from it and are alright, it's never nice to see a bike all chewed up.

Hope its not to costly to repair and you're back on the road soon!

Glad you're with us to type the report. So sorry about your baby. I know that pain. :( Heal up and take care of yourself. You'll be back on two wheels in no time. It'll only *seem* like forever.

As for not seeing the pole... One time I was walking downtown and not only did I walk into a pole when I had my head turned, I totally apologized to the pole as a knee jerk reaction... and then laughed at myself... and then laughed at how crazy I must look laughing at myself and talking to inanimate objects... So, yeah, it happens. We miss things right in front of us.

Just think, once you and the bike are all healed and this is all behind you, it'll make a great story.

Or, just say you were distracted by a hot girl.

Sue the council for not adequately marking the horizontal pole. I'm kind of joking, but in reality I think you'd have a case. The vertical poles are clearly marked, but the horizontal one isn't at all.

Regardless mate - glad to hear you're ok and hope your baby doesn't cost too much to repair.

Yup I think thats the way the story will pan out ;)

Thanks all, the pain is kicking in now but nothing major. I'm already looking out the window and thinking wow weathers good... :(

As for the poles not being marked, well my wife is a legal sectary and has said its worth writing a letter of intent (ie you plan to sue) and they may pay out. Looking at the damage to the post on the left I'm not the first to hit it.

A legal secretary? Isn't that someone who looks pretty and types up words of more than two syllables before she goes home and makes the dinner?

(sorry, couldn't resist :P )

That sucks man, sorry to hear that :(

Good point, I never even noticed there was a horizontal one when I first looked at the picture.

She is actually a lawyer and practised for a number of years but chose to stop doing it and have a more stress free life :D

Haha, good for her - life isn't about knocking your pan in 24/7 for no thanks whatsoever... I watched my dad do that until he hit 50 and got made redundant - it was only then that he started to view life with a different perspective and really start enjoying life.

in all fairness i didn't even see the horizontal barrier when i was looking lol!! jeez im blind...

Glad your ok... the bike is fixable just hope its soon
