How To Define Motovlogging

DRAY

West Coast is Best Coast!
Hey folks! Just discovered this forum! Awesome! I've started vlogging but I'm curious how we define exactly what a motovlog is?
Generally it seems to involve riding your steed and talking but can it involve other things motorcycle related?
There's bike reviews but what about motorcycle events or building a motorcycle? Are these things still motovlogs?
Cheers all!

Whatever you feel like filming. It's your show so you call the shots. If you want to upload hour long videos of your motorcycle paint drying then go for it.

I don't prepare a story and talk I just go out ride and let things work itself out. I go on adventures and if something comes to mind I'll talk about it.

Well a motovlog is exactly that. It's a vlog on/in something with a motor. Generally a motorcycle.

What it's about is irrelevant.

I suppose natural and organic is preferred, I like to have a direction though.

I tried that a couple times and it just wasn't as fun. I like just seeing what I can get into. If I see something while I'm riding like a hill or a open area I go there and check it out. I ride in a ditch allot.

Building a bike isn't really a vlog. Vlogging is really about recording your personal thoughts and feelings on a subject. So a video about a build might be more of a documentary.

Now if you record yourself talking about your build it might be in vlog territory, but if you're just sitting at your computer that's just a vlog and not a Motovlog.

Motovlogs are a specific vlog subcategory that require you to be in motion.

As long as you're sharing thoughts while on a bike it's a Motovlog though. Topic is largely irrelevant.

I usually give myself a subject. I'm not usually on a bike when i have a thought about something so i'll just note it down and then let it stew. I'll think about various things about that subject and then next time I'm on my bike, if its still on my mind, i'll talk about it.

RegularCars are doing videos on their Vogabond Falcon project and the format he is doing it in is pretty much a vlog format.

Beyond that, everything is a valid topic. And any vehicle, I made my first few vlogs in the car. I know I will make some motovlogs where I talk about nothing bike related at all. Got one planned even.
A howto or tutorial would not be a vlog. BUT, you make whatever you want with your channel. Nobody will call you out for making a non-vlog in your vlog channel.

My 2 cents?

MotoVlog = A vlog whilst riding your motorcycle. You could lead to a show part in your MotoVlog and still consider it a motovlog (as I have done with a ride video series I did not too long ago, motovlog first and the show part later). If it is only footage of a motorcycle show it is not a MotoVlog. Even if you vlog inside the motorcycle show it turns into a regular vlog unless you have yourself riding a motorcycle.

Pretty simple really. Making a blog but while on a motorcycle. I prefer not to pigeon hole myself these days and refer to myself as a "content creator" as I also do creative stuff.
