So just out of curiosity, how private do you guys like to be with your channels? Personally Ive chosen not to show my face, not give my full name, not show my house or even the naighborhood I live in. Number one I like the mistery it provides, number two safety reasons. What's your guys thoughts?

im on the same page as you. i dont want my face house street or roads to my house in vids. secrecy and mystery keep a motovlog channel alive when it comes to the rider' vlogger of the channel. or in my mind it does. and screw having a person that knows your roads coming and stealing your bike or robbing you cause they now know where you live...

If somebody WANTS to get to you, they will. It's enough to know your bike and what you look like. They can easily follow you home, you do vlogs at least once a week so it's enough to know ONE road you ride often and then the waiting game starts. Most vloggers have been on the same road multiple times on video. It's easy to pinpoint and with street view you don't even have to live in the same country.
No matter how much you try to randomize the streets you ride, you're going trough the same street to get to/from home.
It adds to the channel mistery not really knowing who's under the visor but it isn't even hard to get to you or your home based on the info you post on yt.

I get a lot of attention from everyone when I ride. That kinda makes me nervous about vlogging and to get known on my city and that's why I have an added layer of privacy on my channel, and that is, language. No local is going to watch my videos if they can't even understand what I'm saying.
It's kinda sad too because I have been trying to launch a vlog in spanish, just for the fun of it and to see the reaction. Latin motovloggers is something that the internet is lacking, but I don't do it because of safety reasons. Every week at least one bike gets stolen. And not only bikes. A fucking gang attacked a couple friends on a red light 2 months ago and they stole, at gunpoint, their van with 3 bikes inside.
It's common practice to steal bikes the way you saw on that brazilian video where the thief got shot. Sometimes they approach with 2 bikes to steal you. The difference here is that the police won't do anything.

Don't
Show my plate
Show my house
Show roads close to house
Start videos in my town ;)

But don't care about face, its just privacy of those I live with.

Don't show my plate or my face but otherwise I don't care too much. My bike is secure at night and my Dingo will eat you before I get to you :)

I haven't shown the outside of my house or the streets surrounding it. I show my face in one of my videos and I wouldn't hide my plate if it appeared on camera.

I always blur my face and rego, but as I'm the type that records and uploads compilation of commuting incidents, if they are in my neighbourhood I'll upload it anyway. I've had someone comment saying if they tried really hard they could work out roughly where I lived, and that they are pretty sure they knew where I worked. Luckily it was a friendly subscriber than a troll :P

I also have a vid where I drop my bike right outside my house, and it took me ages to blur out the whole street and my house so that it wouldn't be identifiable.

I'm not really fussed, I mean - who could not like ME? (shakes head at own comment)

and anyway - grew up in Belfast and I'm a biker now, so I must be scary - right?
