How Long Should I Wait?

Stryfe

Just a noob riding a motorcycle
im currently riding my cbr 600 f4i. ive had the bike for about an month. how long should i wait before upgrading to a 1,000?

That isn't a question you will have to ask. Keep the bike you have for now because a month is not long enough to gain true road experience. Just ride what you have and get everything you can out of that bike then there will come a time when you know you have the skills to ride. At that point just go get whatever bike you want the question won't be "am I ready?" it will be "which bike do I want?"

This is true. Most of the guys I ride with have liter bikes. I guess it has me antsy.

As a guy who rides a liter bike to work every day, I can tell you that outside a race track, it's overkill. If you're going to work and jetting around town, your 600 is probably perfect. Without the slipper clutch, this thing would absolutely suck to ride in town. As it is, my old M750 would be better and an inline 4 or Triumph Street Triple would be even better than that.

I know the feeling I use to ride a Ninja zx6r and thought I needed the liter bike because my friends had them. So I borrowed an R1 for a while and realized I liked my zx6r way more. Long story short I kept the zx6r for a while and eventually decided to get a new bike and now I ride a Harley VRod. Love my bike now, I wanted something more comfortable and better for long trips but still had to have something sporty and powerful.

dude how was that r1? ive heard so many different opinions on that bike. the zx6r is a very clean bike i almost got one of those! you cant go wrong with a harley. my cousin has a 48 1200 love that thing.

For me the R1 was just overly torquey. At the time I was doing more city riding and that bike always wanted to come up on the back tire when I needed to get on it really quick. It was fun but wasn't practical. Now I live more in the country and the Vrod is fast as hell and for me it's way more fun. I have a buddy with a 48 it's a clean bike as well.

The V-Rod is a beast! My first "real" bike was a 1200 Sportster. I actually rode cross country in the winter on that thing. By the time it was over, I couldn't feel my ass and I was deaf, but Those memories are worth their weight in gold. Shit you do when you're 21.

Honestly, I don't know! I rode through Virginia, Tennessee, Arkansas, Texas and back again. The mountains and rain almost killed me and the wind chill was a beast! I had a thermos full of coffee that I refilled every time I filled up which was about every 110 miles, since I only had a 2.2 gallon tank! lol I wore regular clothes with insulated coveralls and leathers on top of that. Still froze my ass off!

Thats the way I was on my ninja 45 min was about the max I could go without needing a break. On my harley farthest I've rode is about 4hrs round trip and it was great I only stopped once to get gas and that was at the 2hr mark.

Liter bikes are overkill in my opinion. I've gone back and forth for a while on whether or not I want one. I'm definitely considering getting a ZX6R when I get back from my deployment next year, but have also been thinking about a ZX10R.. I think I'll go with a ZX6.. Liter bikes are just way too powerful lmao

dude the zx6r is so clean, one of the guys i ride with has a 2014 zx14 so nice

The longest I've rode my CBR was 11 hours in one day. I did take a few breaks here and there though. Needless to say, my legs and ass killed the next morning lmao
