How long did it take for you to reach 100 subs?

Oh really? I guess that shows how personal preference varies. I know youtube stats show on average videos 3-4 min or less get more views than videos more than this, but that is ALL videos, not just motorvlog videos, so maybe it's different in our little genre.

Although I still think it might be best to keep them short if someone is just starting. Again I won't click on videos that are too long especially if I don't know who the person is. If it is someone I already know I enjoy then I may be willing to click on them. But if it is someone who I don't know or is new and they post a video that is 10min+ then I honestly won't click on the video.

Again, I'm just one person the public may be different.

I agree with AspieThinker. I'm going to start making my vlogs shorter (below 7 mins) even if that means uploading them in multiple parts. There are very few videos that I would watch which are over 10 mins long, and the ones that I do watch are from people that I know and like. Even then I sometimes jump forward through the video.
If you want others to watch (and hopefully subscribe to) your channel, you can't assume that because you like watching longer video's, that other people like them too. Once you have a larger subscriber base you can do what you like, but until then you have to do all you can to attract subscribers, not put them off.
But that's just my humble opinion, and I have less than 100 subs, so what do I know

My vlogs vary from short to long.. Depending on what topic I'm covering and how much I have to talk about.

Honestly, if the topic interests someone then it won't matter how long it is because they will check it out either way.

If your funny, I'll subscribe. Simple as. I just watched One of Double Ds videos, made me laugh in 20 seconds. Subscribed straight off that bat and liked the video. Also I've just watched a few of your videos and the cinematography is very good but there isn't a great deal of riding. I really enjoyed your artsy stuff and they'd make fantastic intro's but as a viewer I want to see more riding, vlogging and actual doing things on the road rather than standing still stuff.

Took a month, but it felt like months. My channel has a little momentum now after about a year of making videos consistently and getting better at editing.

As for the length of a video, just make what you like! They key is editing. If the editing is a good, a longer video won't feel long, and it'll be engaging for the viewer. A short video with too much packed-in feels like a commercial, or can be annoying for those who want to sink their teeth into a video or really immerse themselves. I don't mind longer videos if they're well-made.

I take the Kubrick approach. Make it interesting, but a little downtime is just as important as the exciting stuff. Make what you love and your audience will find you!

Haha! Nice Nerb, no doubt Kinda annoying those peeps that just get handed a big channel after some shout out by an already established big boy channel... Oh well, man this thread didn't look that old at first and then I remembered it's almost October! Where the heck did the time go, dude has prolly hit his hundo by now.

Took me three-four months to hit 100 subs and a crap ton of video and editing hours.
