High-view Vids

I made the video a few years back because there wasn't another video on youtube showing how to assemble a RAM Mounts "Quick Grip XL" phone holder. RAM Mounts doesn't provide the instructions, so I figured there might be people out there who need the info.
I was right. By FAR my most watched video with 11k views.
I am glad to have been a help. :)

These sorts of videos do really well. I have made similar for other accessories.

I figured it might peak at a few hundred views, and never went back to check on it. When I did finally check on it last year, I was surprised to see it had over 10k views.
I usually avoid making how-to vids because I cuss & swear as I work on stuff, plus I hate the recording process when trying to just get the task done.
I leave how-to vids to those with better temperament and more patience.

I've been there - trying to install the RickRak mount on my Harley, because I'm a dullard, was hard. I stopped recording and picked up when I was done, LOL.

As far as weird video growth goes... I have a video where I fixed my lawnmower. It was a test to see if I could edit something, and I wanted to remember how to do it. It now has 192k views. And gets between 500 and 1000 views per day. It's hilarious.

I recorded myself installing a center stand on the Africa Twin and it was 1 hour of frustration & cussing cut down to 15-minutes of work with the cussing edited out. I ended up titling it "How NOT To Install A Center Stand". :)
192k views is crazy!

LOL, my recording experience was much the same for the RickRak mount. Funny how editing works :D

And yeah, 192k views... me and a couple of buddies just keep laughing about it.

That makes me almost want to start a channel named "The Lawnmower Man". :)
I do occasionally watch vids from some channels where a small lawn service company does a full yard rehab for free for people with out of control lawns, or older folks, or people with legal notices from the city government to clean the yard.

That is awesome though... I guess there are more people with lawns than there are people with motorcycles! :)
Yes indeed! I'm constantly shocked at how many people watch this video, and keep sharing it, and commenting on it, and subscribing for more... when clearly, my channel is not mower-centric.

I had totally forgotten about it for 2 whole years, before it came up in my analytics page as one of the most popular videos on my channel in the previous 48 hours... so I looked. And my jaw dropped. It had a whopping 500 views, after sitting at 56 for 2 years. That was the fall of 22. Then, in February of 23, it started climbing, and shot off like a rocket. Simply gobsmacking.

Those videos can be relaxing to watch, and you get to see the finished job, which triggers something in our lizard brains :D

I thought about renaming the channel and moving all my content to a new channel, but this is just too much fun to mess with.

Weird that a post about highest viewing video should get mentioned now. Until very recently my top two were "Why I bought the NC750S" and it's follow up "50,000 miles later", with 10k and 6k respectively over a couple of years, but my latest vid has obviously hit the algorithm, as in only a few days it has just over 7k views. Granted it could be considered controversial, but even so it really has surprised me.

Ahh, I was wondering when that footage would show up.... I've not watched your vid yet, but it was mad seeing the crazy driver swerve into the group of bikes in front of me on the rideout. I'll take a look over the next couple of days.
Am not surprised it has gotten traction as it was proper chaos being there

It is strange which vids do well on YT sometimes. For me I find that the vids I put a lot of work into, the ones I am most proud of, perform badly or average while the easy throwaway vids, the ones I almost didn't do, often become the highest viewed vids!

My most viewed motovlog is a vid where I simply go over all the buttons and controls of my Goldwing. It was a viewer request and I filmed it in like 15 minutes in my driveway almost as a afterthought, then spent about half an hour editing it up and uploading it. Made the thumbnail in a few minutes. Poof, my most viewed vid ever, I still get comments on it weekly, it just doesn't stop going up.

YouTube can be very strange! :p

Its a valuable lesson to learn though: even the strangest of ideas for a YT vid can be gold, even if you don't think it will be, no matter how silly it might seem.

Isn't that frustrating? I've had that happen numerous times... and it's always a head-scratcher.

I know it's not motovlog-related, but I recently split my content creator videos out onto a new channel, and I created a quick tutorial on how to use a semi-hidden Transform effect in Resolve... and it went nowhere for a couple of weeks. But, in the last 2 or 3 days, it's netted me 131 subs, over 7,000 views, and several comments... literally doubling the sub count and tripling both watch time and view count for the new channel. Every time I log into YT Studio there's bigger numbers, and I'm flabbergasted.

It is why I throw out a bike review vide every now and then. My channel is a vlogging channel, not a review one, but no one searches for vlogs, so it helps get fresh faces to my content. Nothing like as well as @Drakhen99 is getting, but it all helps :-)

Dude, even *I* don't know why the stupid Lawnmower Video continues to reach so many people - I'm just happy it does!

I'm doing the same though, trying to mix in more generic motorcycle content/info to get people in the door, then "wow" them with the vlogs.
