Hey everyone,

I really need some help here. I am using a GoPro Hero 3 Black and film at 1080p 60fps. I then edit using Cyberlink Powerdirector 11. I have tried producing them a few different ways but all my videos on youtube seem to have really really poor quality, even when set to 1080p. Can anyone give me some assistance here? I am willing to use a different editing software and learn that if it will help.

Here is an example for you all to see for yourselves:

This one came out somewhere near decent, but nothing like the quality that I would like:

Youtube compresses video further, I have noticed that my videos loose at least 1/3rd of their size if I check the download function. I have seen a lot of trees in your video's. Clear sky is easy to compress without much loss in quality, but when footage gets compressed that is crowded with a lot of objects it becomes a noticeable issue.

Youtube also only supports 30fps. So make sure you upload at 30fps. I do not know what power director uses to "merge fields" but you do NOT want to do this. You want to "disable resample", so it effectively tosses away every second frame resulting in a crisp picture. Pause a scene with a lot of movement and change your clip properties to reflect "disable resample" and see it clear up before your eyes. Although your footage doesn't look that ghosted to me...

i noticed a massive improvement in my videos quality when i switched down from 60fps to 30fps, boosts colours because it can get a larger amount of light in each frame, my first vlog was done in 60fps and all others in 30, check mine for a reference.

Maybe u should try other editing software? Im using Sony Vegas Pro and it has some nice presets. I just have to disable resampling, choose render quality to best and edit few small things and its all. Im recording at 720p30fps. Wanted to try with 60fps but i see that its pointless cause youtube will f*** quality anyway so i'll stay at 720p30fps.

DziEsMoto: No, 60fps is great stuff. For the simple reason that you can make a nice slomotion video. 1 second @ 60 fps = 2 seconds @ 30fps. And that, is sweet!

I know that slowmotion will be better but... what about youtube? Can upload with the same quality as i can watch on my PC ? Is it usefull to record in 60fps every vid or its not needed? Im happy with my 30fps vids so i think 60fps its nice when we want record a slowmotion walk around etc. It takes to much on SD card for normal riding vids :D

Have you checked the setting options on your editing software when you upload to YT? It may be set at a lower quality for quicker uploading when what you want is higher quality and a slower upload time.
