Everyone knows about the top posters monthly award. It's our way to try and give something back to those who help the forum tick over etc.

I am also aware that the people who post a lot may not always post the best quality blah blah. The site is very seasonal due to the fair weathers etc (I am one)

I am now looking at ways to help those who generate good content. Its been hard trying to work it out, so do I award people who post a lot, award an OP of a thread for having the most replies? Headache as one disagreement in a thread can go on for ages but that isn't valuable.

I think I've found a way... We all know the site has a 'like button' which I've basically nicked from FB, I've now implemented emotions (nicked that as well) - At the top of the homepage and 'what's new', you will see 'most reactions' with the hope that the odd person who may not post a lot but has posted a good post with lots of 'emotion' will get recognised, at least people being nosey and viewing their profiles etc.

I have no idea and happy for you to think about it lol. I just think 'likes' are harder to 'fake' like post counts going forwards etc. Although the top posters thing works a treat

Just out of interest, why not both top poster and most reacted?

It is both, top poster is on the sidebar, most reacted is along the top!

Oh, I see. Somehow I understood, the reactions bit would be replacing the top poster video.

no, the top poster will still get their choice of video promoted, but the most reacted to poster will get a nice prominent place in the timeline. Dan, Lurch or myself may randomly promote videos posted if we thing they stand out as well, so if anyone has a specific video that is kinda awesome in some way we will promote that too!
