Hein Gericke in the UK have gone into administration.

Their website states that individual stores will have closing down/stock clearance sales.

While this is terrible news in general, particularly up here since it's virtually the only bike clothing store worth visiting, there will likely be significant sales and deals to be had.

Yeah, I just had a look at their site too. Shame, but I'm sure the sale will placate us all for a while.

...I await the terribly low price of stock clearance.... I need new boots :D

Although its not nice seeing a bike company go down.

Ol'muggins here has a gift voucher for them too! Heard rumours of this 6 months ago so not a big shock but still, I buy all my bike wear from there as I've always found it to be good quality at a good price. I hope they find a buyer.

The implications of them having a yard sale to get rid of their stock suggests that's unlikely - they've probably been seeking a buyer for some time. I hope I'm wrong.

Same impression as I had. Still, here's to hope :?

Although with George White and Frank Thomas also gone or re-branded, I'd imagine that someone else will open up under the Hein Gericke brand, assuming the mother company isn't going bust too.

Popped into the one in Bristol today; 10% off helmets, 20% off clothing, 30% off everything else. Not exactly spectacular, especially since I was after a helmet.

Especially considering when I bought my Shoei I got 25% off from them... maybe that's why they're going under.

Apparently the European stores remain un-affected.

I'm going to try and get up to the Glasgow store to see if I can get a pair of boots to make me taller :p Will be a shame to see them go.

I heard from the guy in the store up here about how the company is organised. Apparently the main company owns all the stores in mainland Europe, but in the UK they are a separate company who have to purchase stock from the German company and sell it on. This explains why even under the sale the jacket I want is £499, but I can order it direct from the German website for £290 delivered :S
