I have a mate who owns a 2007 GSXR 600 (at least I think it's an 07) and it sounds like the cam chain tensioner isn't working as it should. He's looking to reset the tensioner in case it's just gotten stuck but I can't find any guides online and as I'm not a mechanic I don't want him to follow what I say in case it's not correct.
From what I know. He would need to rotate the crank to TDC, then remove the cap / cover on the CCT to reveal the recessed screw / tensioner bolt. From here he would simply need to use a screwdriver to rotate the screw counter clock wise and then release. The internal spring would then 'fire' the tensioner arm back out and into position. Then it's a simple matter of replacing the cap / cover on the CCT and turning the engine over by hand listening for any clicks from the tensioner before starting the bike up.
This is all I can remember from a few years back when I had a similar CCT issue on my SV. Now with the GSXR being an i4 I'm not sure how different / similar these steps would be.
Any help is very much appreciated.
Thanks
