Groups blowing up on Facebook...

I am admin on a biker Facebook group which is run by some good friends, been on it years as a nice way to stay in touch with them, was more just a small social group rather than anything else.
I used to get frustrated moderating this forum, but that group have taken off, even with an admin assist set up on it I am still having to manually approve a huge amount of new posts and member requests. I think 2 weeks ago it had around 6,000 members... it now has nearly double that... I wish my YouTube channel or even just my Facebook page could get this much attention! :-D

When I had my Moto Guzzi V7 I was on a large ish Guzzi group, the owner didn't do any admin, and everyone was complaining, I guess I complained the loudest as he just made me admin without asking if I'd do it. I cleaned up all the scammers, set questions to fish them out for new members and had first post approval turned on. It was a lot of work, but I got the group back in good order, then sold the V7 and turned all the settings back to how they were before I was sorting it because I am a child and most of the members pissed me off... it went back to shit in less than a month. I imagine I am on their banned list now if the owner actually took the reigns back on it LOL.

All this stuff where people can find a way to scam will be exploited, they will and they don't even care that their posts are so obviously scams.

OUCH. It takes a lot of work to admin a group. Heck, my wife is part of a local Buy Nothing group, and she's an admin... and the amount of headaches is in no way worth it, to me at least. I have enough on my plate. So, I commend those who DO put in the effort.

In the Lego groups, there's ALWAYS someone getting scammed. Even after all the vetting. It's nuts. I just wanna look at pics of pretty bikes and ask/answer questions. Why is that so hard?

Is it a UK biker cafe group? If so I've joined recently and seen you posting all your nosh from various places.

Social platforms rise and fall. It's cyclic, like nature. Maybe no one has the funds to ride that much anymore and this is why they post more? I've noticed over the years that our local national bikers forum gets more activity at winter. And less meaningful content also at winter. People don't ride in snow. Coincidence?

The scamp posts and mails intentionally so, because they don't want to waste time on smart people.

That's what she said

All great points about scammers. My Prince friends says the same thing. You will learn more clicking the link in my signature and subscribing.

And now a quote from Jack White's song Archbishop Harold Holmes to illustrate and illuminate all while you ruminate

You will be doubted by all the unbelievers
On all the things I'm addressing
But you must tell seven friends
You must first bring seven friends
And don't be selfish and keep this all to yourself
And don't eat shellfish
