GoPro Hero7 Black vs Hero 8 Black - best VALUE option ?

I vowed not to get the 9, but when I saw the Max lens mod, I succumbed and got the camera. For a helmetcam, I think the 8 is plenty good enough, it is just battery life that lets it down, especially in winter when their duration suffers a bit.

I rode yesterday, and I swear I had the thing running for MAYBE 45 minutes at 1080p, and it died! My 9 had plenty of juice left over.

Not sure if I mentioned it before, but if you're doing a dual cam setup and have an 8 and a 9, I like to use the 8 as the "rider view" [or 2nd camera angle] and the 9 on my helmet, because when I notice the 8 die, I can pull over and swap batteries on both cameras, as the 9 still has juice left. This helps prevent missing part of your ride.

I am wanting to do it the other way round, as it is the Max lens mod that I want the 9 for.

So you catch more of your surroundings while the cam faces you? I like that. I am currently using SuperView on the 8 for that, but I bet the Max Lens mod is even better!

no, so that the bike moves under the camera due to the horizon levelling. I'll probs not run superview on the 9, but will see how it comes out, superview can make your arms look a bit Slenderman.
