GoPro Hero2 Mic Issues...

Hi guys,

Just thought I'd post an issue I'm having with the GoPro Hero2 and see if anyone has heard of a solution. I've posted a comment to GoPro Support to see if they can fix it and noted on a GoPro forum that quite a few people seem to be having similar problems, so it doesn't look specific to my camera.

Issue: The internal camera mic no longer records any sound. This appears to have happened since I first used an external mic plugged into the 3.5mm jack input.

The internal Mic was working when I first got the camera - that's what I used for my first walkaround video where I didn't speak.

I'll let you know if I get any response from GoPro, but if anyone has any tips/solutions or even similar problems, please let me know.

Yeah, copy that. I just got the Go Pro a few weeks ago and did the firmware update. I unplug/plug my external mic all the time with no problems.

I think I've done the firmware update. I can't find out how to do it manually to ensure it has loaded properly, but the CineForm Studio application doesn't appear to think it needs updated.
 
Where do we find this firmware update? I just got my new gorpo2 and want to make sure it's ready to go for the Ozarks meet up this year.
 
I've run mine with and without the external mic - no issues so far. Not happy with my mic but that's not the cameras fault. :)

One word of advice from the GoPro users forum - don't upgrade the firmware unless you really need to, a lot of folks seem to get their "bugs" just from an arbitrary upgrade, (don't try to fix it if it isn't broke).
Yarek - I'm not saying your's does not need a re-install, hopefully the GoPro folks will help you out.
