Go Pro Vs Drift?

There was a recent thread about this.

GoPro has the edge on picture.
GoPro is best for chin mount
Drift is the best for elsewhere on the helmet
Drift has a better form factor.

The argument will never be won, too many supporters on each side. Work out your needs from a camera and take it from there.

It's like saying which is the best football team whe they're neck and neck in the table, real world they're closely matches but one has the edge.

atm, I use the go pro hero 3 edition. I use it on my truck for whenever I go mud riding or Ill strap it to my friends bike. It works wonders for me, but I am thinking about switching over soon but idk what to.

Pretty much everything Lurch said is spot on.

The reason I chose the Drift was the form factor, it was more sleek looking on the helmet. However GoPro beats it by a long shot when it comes to picture quality.

Sony seems to have the advantage in PQ and price versus the drift these days, with the same advantages of the form factor but with worse mounting options.

GoPro for the chin or bike mounting options and versatility otherwise (my preference).

I prefer Drift, they look more sleek, can provide fantastic results and can pick them up cheaper.

I personally think go pro is alot like apple, you buy the badge. but on the other hand they are still great cameras.

I prefer the drift because it is a lot cheeper than the gopro, well it was when i got mine anyway. the drift also has a nicer look to it where as the gopro looks like a mini tv strapped to your head xx

Its a hard choice.. i think itll just end up coming down to price. If i can get a go pro hero 3 cheaper then a drift camera it says it all for me.
Im happy with my audio on my drift so id see no reason to change that.

Drift HD Ghost. I love mine.

- Cheaper Price Wise
- Rotatable Lens
- Easy Setup
- Waterproof down to 9ft without casing.
- Screen for setting up shots (made of thick gorilla glass)

I admit i do wish i got a ghost in some respects, but my go pro's superview is just a selling point everytime for me :)

And you can't put a Drift in the best place for a camera, the chin.
Well, that's completely subjective to be fair. Chin is good, but imynot that fussed about it, and I'm not sure I'd mount a camera there. If you do want a chin mount the a GoPro or GoPro-alike is pretty much the only form factor you can use, for anything else, either will do fine, although the GoPro body HAS to be flat, not angled, no fudge factor like the Drift without bracketry.

I do love my drift and I have to say that, from reading many forums and talking to scores of bikers with cameras I've met when out and about, I hear MANY more complaints about GoPros messing up, freezing and just failing than I do about the drift. This, and the Fact the drift will mount on any standard camera mount and the rotable lens was what made the choice for me in the first place.

Thats very true but when they work they are an amazing camera, its just stuff you need to know about and the internet has all the answers for the problems anyway.

I have a drift ghost S & love it. The quality is great & I watched a ton of comparison videos. Didn't see a difference in quality if shooting during the day. The low light looked better on the drift if shooting at night. It all came down to price though & drift s won #TeamFrugal.

Was really leaning towards the Drift Ghost S. Seemed like PQ was equal to that of GoPro at the time and then there was the drift form factor you guys mentioned. Then I saw some 1080 60fps vlogging on a GoPro 4 from recent youtube video's and it just knocked my socks off. Also thought I'd definitely want a sidemount POV but I've warmed up to the chin mount POV. I dont like the surreal POV's and its nice when you feel like your just going along for the ride.

Now ive been vlogging for a while the only things that truely matter to me are battery life and picture quality.

it's like arguing boob man vs ass man, best advice is go with which ever one you like the most,

HOWEVER I found the drift was easier to set up for a mic, but that just my opinion.
