Go Pro Adhesive Mounts

Hello!

Anyone had any trouble with gopo adhesive mounts?

Mine nearly fell offthis morning and its been on a month!

Kit is normally at room temperature/in the office so around 21, as you've seen i've been riding in near 0 for the last 2 weeks or so, I didn't think that would have much affect once its stuck though, thoughts?

The surface needs to be cleaned and degreased very carefully. Use brake cleaner, Aceton etc. When you apply the pad, you have to press it very hard for about 60 seconds. After that it needs 24h cure time for the glue to bond with the surface properly.

If you stick to that, I can't imagine how it can come off by itself. You need a gorilla to take it off again.

I have had the same mounts on my helmet for 4 years now. Still as solid as the day I put them on. Im thinking there might have been some oil on the helmet that didnt let it get a good bond.

It wasn't the bond between the helmet, it failed between the mount and that bond.

So as the adhesive is double sided, my one failed between the adhesive and the actual plastic of the go pro mount :S

well then, it wasnt anything you did. I guess you could just chalk it up to "things happen" in this case.

I hope so, next time could fall off on the road which is gonna be an absolute dick :S

I've had mine on for years, no issues. Mainly depends on the surface you install it on, how much contact the adhesive has with the surface, the temperature or environment where you store it at. Have a tether for those just-in-case moments.

Next time try looping a safety strap to another hook on your helmet held using the same mounting tape. So if the mount fails, it will get saved by the hook long enough for you to pick it back up.
