Getting Pulled Over.

It's a necessary evil but how does your police react when they stop people?

If they stop you here there are 2 possibilities :
-They stop you because they were told they need to fine (yes fine) certain amount of people (true story).
-They stop you just for a check.

They rarely stop you for breaking the law. You still get a ticket though.
At all times they are smug about it but rarely abuse their position.

The internet has led me to believe that , at least in the US , they tend to be praised for not overreacting about something.

Not confirmed, but yes, just about everyone believes that cops have a quota, or "key performance index (KPI)" of summons to issue.

Cops over here tend to pull over people, seldom "random", but when they do, it's either that, (i) you committed and offense & they want a bribe (no joke); (ii) their superior told them to stop and fine <that motorist>.

However depending on how you go about interacting with them, if you play your cards right, sometimes they'll let you off without any fine, otherwise, you might get off after giving a bribe (lesser value than the fine of course), or worst case scenario (superior present) means they have no choice but to issue fine (no dealing allowed due to superior being there).

Even if you do end up getting the summon(s), if you have the right contacts, you can always have them "removed" from the system, for a certain "fee", of course.

Or, just wait till the police force have their annual "mega sale" time (usually around independence day), giving discounts for those that haven't settled their fines so that you can settle them at a discounted rate. People actually prefer to wait for this period to settle their outstanding fines. Cheaper. Funny but true.

Crazy but every country needs some income. And tickets are far easier than taxes (at least here). A colleague of mine got fined for his tinted windows , despite having a paper that proved their legality.
I got pulled over last week because they found it strange that I wore a helmet and moto gear on a scooter. I'll upload a video on that. That's why I was asking about what subtitles are best in another thread.

It really amazes me though how people provoke officers and demand fair treatment (again according to Youtube). My parents taught me to speak only when spoken to way before I even had a bicycle and not to provoke anyone.

I've been stopped loads of times in cars but never on a bike. Maybe I'm doing bikes wrong ;)

Most of the interactions I've had the police have been bell ends but I appreciate it has to be a tough job for them. I'm only a 'problem customer' for them when they really go too far, usually I'm polite to them and they let you on your way.

America, love the country love the people, not too fond of the government.... modern day nazis party .... with out the camps..... oh wait guantanamo bay.

i dont know whats up with cops out there is it them or are media spining it to make it as mad as it seems.

In fairness we now have a Tory majority government. Those guys are just the same. I'm considering buggering off until they've gone. If they ever go. The changes they are and will be making over the next parliament mean they may never get out of power

how you think i feel am in Scotland or how its refereed down in London the government testing grounds. am thinking of taking my house deposit and move away. i can vlog from anywhere.

If we can find enough likeminded people, we can all chip in, buy an ex RN ship and declare ourselves independant. Imagine the vlogs we can make running down Somali pirates or powering up the Themes to overthrow government and liberate the nation.

I think it really depends on the bike you are riding, at least in parts of California.

I used to get pulled over left and right on my RC51 (twice in an hour once!) but never got a real ticket. I think the officers just wanted to check to make sure the bike was registered and insured or maybe they were hoping I would run? I don't believe there are quotas anymore.

Now that I switched to a V-strom, I am going to jinx myself now, but I have never been pulled over in the past 2.5 years of daily riding (which I would classify as... spirited). Sportbikes seem to be targeted more.

Yet to be pulled over on the bike, but when I worked at a bar - on the way home, at about 4am on the weekends - I'd regularly get pulled over.
The very last time it happened, I ended up getting snappy with the guy, as he kept asking question after question.
"What's your name?" "Where have you been?" "Where are you going?"
"I'm going home after a long shift. Next question!"

He didn't like that... but I hadn't done anything wrong for him to do anything about it.

Being that I'm going to be hitting the street in supermoto trim after my move west I expect to be pulled over quite a bit. However I'm going to do the right thing....befriend cops in town!

up here in my neck of the woods they dont really pull you over unles you're doing something you shouldnt be. Speeding, driving/riding recklessly, etc.

Sometimes they will do random checks late at night looking for drunk drivers.

I've been pulled over three times in my life, twice for random checks at night, and once for having a brake light out.

all three times the officers were very kind, the random checks they never even ran my license, and the third time the officer let me actually check the wiring and i fixed my brake light issue on the spot. had a nice chat, and I was on my way.

I have no issues with law enforcement in my area.

I feel like once my YZ is plated this will happen to me a lot. Simply because i'm going to cheese the plating process as much as I can.

.

And that's the way it should be...However there is a stigma against dual sport/supermoto bikes in the US mainly in urban areas because of the high amounts of illegal dirt bikes on the street. The countryside seems to have less issues with them
