I'm comfortable either way, but I usually end up on the right because that's where my exit is going to be.

It is fun to see your reason for lanesplitting on the right, can agree on it.

Here you have to lanesplit on the most left side, by law, because it is the "faster" lane.
You do have a other advance, no people that are moving aside because of their exit

Since we aren't really supposed to lane-split in Texas, I really only do it out of necessity. There's no law that says "No lane splitting" but there is this:

Transportation Code Section 545.060, entitled "Driving on Roadway Laned for Traffic."

• An operator on a roadway divided into two or more clearly marked lanes for traffic:
  • shall drive as nearly practical entirely within a single lane; and
  • may not move from the lane unless that movement can be made safely.

This is often interpreted by police as meaning lane splitting is illegal, but like a lot of the Texas Transportation Code, it's ambiguous, allowing for officer discretion.

Because of that, I usually only do it when traffic is stopped due to a wreck or other diversion, so which lane I choose has a lot to do with where the obstruction is in the road.

True, that. Just got to watch out for Motorcycle Cops. Those guys can ride. At least around here. I've seen some of those guys do the figure 8 on a dressed out police Harley inside a plywood box and not hit the sides!

The Moto cops in FL are fucking gods gift to motorcycle maneuverability and thats when i saw them on the Harley who knows what they can do on the new BMW's theyre getting.
