Follower fluctuation issues

My subscriber count has been up and down like a bride's nightie, recently.

Ive ended up with more than I started with at the beginning of the week, but it's yo-yo'd hard all week, gained 25, lost 25, then gained 9, lost 7 etc, finally seems to have settled back at 180, initially was 175

It definitely sounds like YouTube is doing stuff behind the scenes. When you have a smaller channel it makes a huge difference to morale when the numbers get messed about with like this. I really hope YouTube sorts it out whatever it is soon.

Yea, no idea what they're upto. I never heard back from the ticket I raised so none the wiser still.

Agree with the comment about smaller channels, was buzzing seeing 200 subs, then dropping to 175 o er night was a kick in the teeth

I genuinely don't worry too much about the numbers now, but it is nice to know you're doing stuff people want to watch. I always said it would be nice to get to 500 or so, but admit I did get fixated on the subs for a while. The main reason I upload, is so I can watch our trips and rideouts again later on. And let's be honest here, Youtube is the biggest cloud storage available for absolutely no cost ( if you don't count the hundreds and hundreds of pounds for the cameras etc)

Yeah I get the same thing! I went from 120-140 in a day and then went down to 131 and stuck there forever! Been waiting ages to just hit 150, I’m guessing it might drop back to 140 at this rate

I used to see this quite frequently, so I did some research. According to that, YT will find and remove bot accounts on a regular basis.

Interestingly, I haven't seen the gain-loss thing in a long while.

Why do bots sub to channels - is it like for ad/promotion reasons or what? I’ve seen it mentioned before somewhere but just don’t understand the concept of bots so much tbh?

I'm not really sure. A lot of them leave comments and spam.
