Rom: one-one-six unashamed
Hey ya'll,
This whole video and editing thing is new to me so I've done just a few short clips on my new channel MrJoel

I would love some feedback and ideas for editing, banners, links, transitions, etc. thanks for all the shared knowledge here, it makes us old guys feel a little less intimidated by all you younguns ;)

Hey, you are almost as old as me! I'm kind of learning this editing stuff, too. Luckily I have some experience from editing/cleaning up tracks in a recording studio, but I'm an old dog, learning new tricks, too. So far, what I'm learning is content is king, be yourself, focus on stuff that makes you unique and keep your edits as clean as possible.

I'm torn as I've watched several vlogger. Do you use transitions between clips or just let it jerk over to the next one with no transition? I guess it's personal preference but I've seen both done well. Ok, jumping without a transition is kinda annoying but with good content is overlookable (love that word)

I usually fade between clips, some people jump. I also fade the beginning and end of the audio. I have started fading the video at the end after credits roll, too.

I just Adobe Premiere... it's a great piece of kit! Very powerful and extremely intuitive for anyone who has done computer stuff before. If you are really new, just spend some time on Youtube watching tutorials and learning as you go mate!

I just have cuts through my clips, I don't use transitions, but that's personal preference. If you need any help with banners, etc etc feel free to PM me and I'll send you in the right direction :)

your lens looks foggy. maybe it is foggy? either way, have fun and enjoy what you do. that will reflect through the most
Yeah, the camera lense was dirty as was the case. And judging by the size of the prints, someone with 5 year old finger prints was messing with daddy's stuff ;)

I jump cut if I'm telling a story (and the cut is to edit out umms and silence). I'll throw a transition if I'm changing topics...or when I feel like it, lol.

Don't be afraid to ask guys and girls here they will help you out with tips and tricks i only started a few months back and got loads of help (not that I'm any good lol) also if theres something you want to achieve theres always someone who's done it on youtube so search for the desired effect ..mainly though have fun

I finally got out with the camera mounted and the mic hooked up yesterday. About an hour of footage and I'll be editing it sometime over the next day or two.
