First Sony Action Cam fail :( (HDR-AS10)...

Hey,

As some have read here, I've been pretty impressed with the Sony Action Cam, but a few days ago I came across my first fail with it :( . It seems like during the cooler weather, it likes to work like a champ but now that it's hot... the camera has a safety feature to turn off when it gets too hot, which is 104°F :( . When it's 95°F+ out there with the sun beating down, no good :( .....

I've put electrical tape all over the waterproof case to try to keep the sun from hitting the camera (albeit black tape, since I have a black helmet... white would make more sense) which seems like it's made the camera last quite a bit longer. Still, a little bit of a disappointment :( .

A note though... I have the first generation model - the AS10. They could have improved them since now that there is a second or even third generation (I think - I went the cheap way and got an older one off of ebay :p ~). So who knows...

Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can cool this thing down besides turning it off while riding :/ ???

Thanks for reading & the advice in advance ^_^ !!!

Past could of days... temps in the 80's(°F), no issues. Guess they are just a tough sensitive in the heat :p ... will have to use the Sony in moderation in hot weather :/ ......

(...or I could use a liquid cooling system :p ~)

No kidding, now that's totally overrated :o !!!

Everyone likes it because it sounds cool - like a "Pro" and costs something like $375... so it has to be better, right :p ? Only thing is that it mounts like some antenna array and looks like one, too ~_~ .....

The HDRAS15 overheats too. In dashcam mode @90+ ambient it'll last 20-30 minutes before the auto shut off hits. The new HDRAS100 has a white body, so will reflect the sun's rays. It will probably be less prone to overheating due to that fact alone. I am just not sold on the quality. I wish it would get 4k firmware. 50Mbps would surely support that resolution.

I ended up putting black electrical tape around the waterproof case to keep the sun off the camera (yeah, I know it should be white but I wanted it to blend in with my helmet ;) ) which seemed to allow the camera to keep operating for quite a while longer... but still no cigar :( . ^ I figured that's why they made the white version :p ! Ah well, just keep on hoping that El Neno keeps on doing it's thing so that it stays cool around here longer ;) .....
